What about Tyvek?
It is recyclable-- and some argue sustainable (http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/01/tyvek-sustainble-one-designer-says-so.php).
Very affordable in huge roles of un-printed white from suppliers like Uline (60" x 150' @ 200/roll) and super easy to work with-- no need to sew hems, just trim to length and hang. Want to dress it up? perforate with small holes. sew on it with colored thread of yarn, or draw with markers.

Dorthy Allison has an essay about pornography in which she details house-sitting for someone with an extraordinary literary pornography collection. . . all stored spine to the wall, in the back of a linen closet. this photo of a spine-to the wall library makes me dwell sadly on the burden of shame.

Whatever you do-- avoid Bernacki.
What they call a french polish (and what they charge for like it is real a french polish) is really just a poor excuse.

If you have a workroom (must be heated-- and not by an open-flame space heater!) you can do this in-- read a book and do it yourself. Not to hard-- just slow and a little stinky. if you are not the DIY type, I'd second talking to Ziggy at Evanstonia.

I've looked at this chair in the showroom-- and though it is really attractive, like much of Ikea's seating to be too small and low to be a functional chair.

The plastic their 'chew' toys are made of isn't actually very chew-able.
The one time I've fallen for a fancy dog toy- a.k.a. a dog toy costing over 10 bucks- it was one of theirs. And through she is not usually destructive of her toys, my pup, Ella, had turned it into a pile of tiny toy pieces in under 10 minutes.

the 'Tripod' lamp seems to have one leg too many to actually be a tripod. that having been said, I so, so love the A-Z shelves.

I believe that this is quite traditional for high-end upholstered furniture-- a rough shape in burlap is then covered by cotton batting and your choice of fabrics. This is not, then their intended finish.
