Also I would suggest texture. Put a throw on your couch, maybe a natural cotton or even a wool one. Pillows with texture or even a print.

Well as you can tell by my user name Little dog lover, I love little dogs! So my 2 shih tzus are spoiled, but still obedient. If they are in my place on the couch/chair. I tell them to get down or scoot over...and believe it or not they will do one or the other I guess depending on their mood. So we have a happy compromise in our house. Although if you ask my kids they will say the dogs get what they want,when they want it! Pets On Furniture: Yay or Nay? |

One thing you can do it "throw off" the eye with a stair runner carpet. Then the eye sees the new and not so much of the old. Besides any friends/family that come over are going to know that you are renting and you would do things dif. in your own house. Here is just one example, but there are many more. I dont know how you would feel about painting the coffee table a bright color to go along with the throw pillow ideas, but that would add a splash to your space. I agree with art on the walls, and new updated curtains as well. I am never one to put furniture up against the wall, so you can of course take this or leave it...but what about putting your tv stand in the corner where the plant stand is, and putting your couch looking in the direction of the window (not up against) and your chair to the left of that in it's "own space" with a small little side table? That way you are walking INTO your living room instead of PASSING through. A side table lamp with some attitude might also perk up your furnished space. Have fun! How To Improve Furnished Rental?
