Kind of cold and windy in San Francisco, so I'm just puttering around the house doing projects. I have some fresh pasta dough chilling in the fridge, I'm thinking of making that with a couple of difference sauces for variety. Maybe pan roast some chicken thighs and attempt lime-dulce de leche ice cream. Oh and drinking lots of wine.

Egg yolks (no whites)
Pancetta
Really good parmigiano
Salt
Pepper
Chile Flakes
And -- I know it's blasphemous, but I prefer it with rigatoni or penne to spaghetti.

I mix the egg yolks with the grated parm in a small bowl. Add the pancetta to the drained pasta. Let the heat of the pancetta and pasta get the eggs creamy and shiny. Add salt, pepper and chile flakes, pour a big glass of wine and enjoy!

I love that even though the space is small, you made room for an actual entry! Very pretty, and I'm inspired by your closet organization.

Tell me about it. I'm single and childless, but was standing in front of the library last week and two kids and their mom were playing hide and go seek. Another woman walks up to me and says, "excuse me, are those your children?" I said no, and she asked, very worried, "Do you know if they're here alone?" and I said, "I don't know for sure, but I think they're playing hide and seek with their mom." The woman looked at me like I was a monster, and when the mom popped out from behind the building where she was "hiding" the other woman was all haughty and lecture-y about leaving the kids alone. Keep in mind, this is a VERY safe, affluent suburb in the middle of the day, at a library next to a school and a police station. I'm not saying bad things don't happen, but concern trolling when it comes to kids, especially in places like the aforementioned suburb, is over the top.

Thanks for the tip! I'm saving up for a new king mattress; I'm thinking I'll start adding another $100 each month to the pile for the bed makeover set. What good is a quality mattress if your sheets suck? I love that her products are made one bridge toll away from me :).

I've become famous for these among my group of friends. I use half water half milk for the liquid. The milk helps give the finished gourgeres a nice toasty brown color and I think the texture is better. These warm out of the oven with some thinly sliced ham and sparkling wine is one of my favorite entertaining combinations!

This post couldn't have been more timely! I'm in the market for a king mattress and while my room ins't tiny, if I want to maximize floor space, putting it under my window would be the best option. Only problem is my bedroom faces the street and I can hear EVERYTHING that goes on out there. Not sure if putting my bed right underneath will make it worse or not much at all. But such is the one of the many prices of city living.

The timing for this couldn't have been more perfect. My boyfriend and I recently broke up and we're doing the awful "give stuff back" dance this weekend. I completely rearranged my bedroom, closet and dresser for the two of us, so a change will do me good, I think.

Wow! Thank you so much for posting this! I just got back form my first trip to Paris 3 weeks ago. I was there for a week, and wanted so badly to fall in love with it. I've been obsessed with the city from afar for as long as I can remember. However, once I got there, I found it to be cold, impersonal, dirty, and overrun with tourists. I know it's a tourism city, but it felt overboard. I live in San Francisco, and travel to New York City often, so I'm not new to an urban environment -- in fact, I love them. That isn't to say I didn't find fabulous things in the city. I stayed in the Marais and loved the shopping there. I loved being able to buy real champagne for 20 euros. I found the Eiffel Tower beautiful and striking. The Musee D'Orsay was breathtaking. Walking around Montmartre and the Latin Quarter was fun. I just was just wanting this magical experience form beginning to end, and it was not that way. I was also there alone, so I don't know if that contributed to it. Anyway, great post -- I can relate and I felt like a jerk for not loving the city unconditionally. Glad I'm not the only one.

So totally doing this in my apartment. My walls are vast expanses of beige, and it is getting depressing to look at. My landlord is definitely picky and would not be cool with wallpaper or multiple holes to hang all the art I want. Thanks for sharing!! Can't wait to try it out on a rainy day!

I love the shot of the kitchen as she's actually cooking! Lots of kitchens in design magazines look amazing, but I always wonder, "how does one actually make food in there?"

Gorgeous views and I love that it's bold and sleek while still comfy and not overly designed. Bravo!!

The wording wasn't great, but it was a valid sentiment. The tenants taking advantage of rent control doesn't stick in my craw as much as the landlords who jack up the price of the apartment once the rent controlled tenant moves out. I don't care how nice the wood floors are and whether a washer/dryer is in the unit -- one and two bedrooms running between $4,000-$6,000 is pretty heinous. But as long as there are tech bubble people willing to shell out those kinds of rents for the "culture" of SF, even though they spend 80 hour work weeks down in Mountain View, it's going to stay that way, I'm afraid.

I know this is a minor thing, but I LOVE the Christmas lights around the mirror! That is such a funky little way to jazz up a standard piece of furniture. Love this room, it's like Wes Anderson Redux :)

Sorry to be snarky, but having an expensive apartment in an expensive city with expensive seeming furniture isn't all that creative, impressive or inspiring. I live in SF and can appreciate the sentiment of the write up, but I thought AT was about creatively utilizing space. This just comes across as smug. "Look what I have! San Francisco is just so flippin' great, amirite????"
