Love love LOVE! One question...how do you find the time to edit a popular website, maintain a beautiful home AND work as a nurse? What kind of coffee are you drinking? Tell me your secrets! Sai's Glam Girl Pad House Tour |

So totally doing this in my apartment. My walls are vast expanses of beige, and it is getting depressing to look at. My landlord is definitely picky and would not be cool with wallpaper or multiple holes to hang all the art I want. Thanks for sharing!! Can't wait to try it out on a rainy day! I love the shot of the kitchen as she's actually cooking! Lots of kitchens in design magazines look amazing, but I always wonder, "how does one actually make food in there?" Leah & Bill's Modern Love NestHouse Tour |

The wording wasn't great, but it was a valid sentiment. The tenants taking advantage of rent control doesn't stick in my craw as much as the landlords who jack up the price of the apartment once the rent controlled tenant moves out. I don't care how nice the wood floors are and whether a washer/dryer is in the unit -- one and two bedrooms running between $4,000-$6,000 is pretty heinous. But as long as there are tech bubble people willing to shell out those kinds of rents for the "culture" of SF, even though they spend 80 hour work weeks down in Mountain View, it's going to stay that way, I'm afraid. I know this is a minor thing, but I LOVE the Christmas lights around the mirror! That is such a funky little way to jazz up a standard piece of furniture. Love this room, it's like Wes Anderson Redux :) Marie's "Colorful Cocoon" RoomRoom for Color Contest |

Sorry to be snarky, but having an expensive apartment in an expensive city with expensive seeming furniture isn't all that creative, impressive or inspiring. I live in SF and can appreciate the sentiment of the write up, but I thought AT was about creatively utilizing space. This just comes across as smug. "Look what I have! I've been a long time AT lurker, but this home tour made me want to comment finally. I love your place so much -- and I completely identify with going back and forth between making your home live up to your more whimsical imagination, or keeping things classic, neutral, and versatile. I think you've achieved a wonderful medium of both. BTW, I have a stove just like yours. My pizzas have never tasted so good. Maria's Beautiful "Controlled Chaos" House Tour |
