Emi--I could have written your post. I'm also planning on doing this on a budget. By the end, I hope to have a good idea of what I need so I can confidently spend my limited funds.

Yes, we lived in three houses as a kid. They were all a block apart. My parents still live in the house we moved to when I was 13.

Oh yes YoJess, the exterior is awful.

I've still got a couple of boxes to unpack from my move. I also have a few flowers left to plant.

Posts like this remind me just how blessed I've been to grow up around men and women who raise cattle, hogs, chickens, soybeans and corn. I'm also blessed to spend my days at a land grant university, working with the next generation of farmers and ranchers. I cannot imagine going through life fearful of feedlot cattle or the food they eat.

I've got almost all of my products out but they're all corralled in a two large containers. That way when it is time to clean or time for guests, they're easily stored under the sink.

I've grabbed a wine bottle from the the top of the fridge on my way to investigate a noise. Not sure how effective that would have been but luckily the person making the noise left. I did keep that bottle by my bed for a few weeks though. Now there's a marble rolling pin on the fridge which is almost too heavy to be a weapon.

I usually do have a shotgun or rifle in my bedroom closet but since they aren't mine I generally don't have ammo for them.

No Obama (or any other President) in my home, but I do have my RNC membership card on my fridge. :-)
