I did a post about this on my blog. I got the chalkboard markers at Joann's for about $10. You can also get it from Amazon. It's called Chalk Ink. FYI, if you keep it on for more than a few days, it kinda stains the chalkboard paint. It takes a bit of elbow grease to get it off.

I used chalkboard paint in our kitchen and use liquid chalk marker that they use in coffee shops. No dust but the downside is it is hard to erase when you let the ink dry on it for too long (one week).

I love having friends over. Entertaining does not need to be stressful at all. One idea is having a 'progressive' dinner. Progressive meaning 'continuing' dinner... every week, a group of us meet up for dinner and take turns hosting. Whoever is hosting has the dinner at their place, makes the main dish and the rest bring appetizers, dessert, drinks, etc.

This lightens the load but it also gives us a chance to catch up with one another every week (you can choose to do every other week). It's also an opportunity to show off (or practice) your skills at cooking :)

Our kitchen is this color! I think the color we picked was from Ralph Lauren but paint is Benjamin Moore.
