Thanks for posting this! I'm a huge fan of Gary Taubes and recently read his book ("Why We're Fat...") front to back. So glad to see his work featured here.

Sorry, but someone needs to stand up for the coffee geeks. there is no such thing as an instant barista (or at least, a good one). In my opinion, taking the extra time to invest in a semi-automatic is well worth it (and often cheaper if you do a bit of research!)
Sure, it takes a bit more elbow grease and maybe a little bit of OCD, but every morning I drink espresso that is comparable to any GOOD coffee shop, and I didn't spend $3000 on some beast of a superautomatic machine that makes gross coffee. Just sayin'.

i have the same problem-my door is right in the middle in my living room. so far i've settled for a small table to store sunglasses and mail, a small key rack on the wall and an antique chair that can double as a purse rack and seating for the living room.

I agree with quiltmaster, however I just helped my mother in law paint her living room (with a similar look as the photo above) in BM's Chelsea Gray (good call mrsadams09!)
Chelsea Gray has a great combo of warm and cool tones, with the perfect purple tint to it. Obviously it depends on the lighting but in this case, we were pleasantly surprised at how good it looked in different parts of the room.

I agree--Vancouver is definitely not a small provincial Canadian town.
I've lived in Vancouver my whole life, and it's is no NYC, but the mountain and waterfront views you get from the downtown core make for a stunning and rare landscape.
While we may not be happy about some of the expenses coming out of our pockets due to the Olympics, there's a reason it's expensive to live in Vancouver. It's a magnificently beautiful city, and it's worth every penny of overpriced real-estate.

as much as i love it, gingham isn't the "next big trend", it's been huge for awhile now and is more on it's way out than in.

I don't have any suggestions for adhesives, but you should be careful what you put on your windows because the warranty on your windows can be voided if you attach certain things to your windows (UV films, adhesives etc...) so maybe do some research on that too, since windows can be expensive to replace.
