let's face it, the column is in an awkward place. But, it is holding up the building, so you have to live with it. decorating it is only going to draw more attention to it. If it were me, I would focus on the cityscape view, so the television would have to move and the column remain neutral and blend in with the rest of the architecture. if you want to crop it down, go ahead, museums sell prints of details from their paintings all the time. if it were me i would keep the size of the watercolor, because i love the proportion of the bird sitting on the large pier piling. to modernize it don;t use a mat, and use a museum frame. this is a clean simple way to present artwork.
