My sister and I had bunk beds - we traded off on who got the top bunk on a semi-monthly basis. That way it was more "fair". The beds separated into twin beds so when we moved to a bigger home where we each had our own room, my parents didn't need to buy new beds.

I go to Trader Joe's for a lot of things - at least in Chicago, their produce is pretty good. I like their bag of 4 hass avocados for $2.99, way cheaper than buying them at the local Jewel-Osco. I love the stuff like roasted garlic hummus, sweet apple chicken sausage, coffee beans, bulk nuts and seeds, and for those of us who don't have time to cook, some of the pre-packaged frozen foods are healthy and quick to make.

I still go to Target grocery for dry/canned goods and some of the name-brand stuff I can't get at Trader Joe's. So I end up hitting two stores per week and carrying my groceries around (since I don't have a car).

I hate Wal-Mart and hope they don't make it into Chicago.
