If you're not the handy type, or don't have the tools to make your own, these raised bed kits work pretty well. All you need is a hammer and a screwdriver to put them together: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=202520884&R=202520884 We just installed one last weekend and it took about 5 minutes to put together. My only problem would be the keyboard. I need that tactile feedback, at least for now. I'm not sure I could type on a touchscreen that well unless I was using just my thumbs like on an iPhone. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Hot or Not? Rolltop Notebook Concept |

My wife and I have a computer in our bedroom at the foot of the bed that we setup on an unused coffee table. We use it to watch Hulu together, as well as the occasional VOD from Amazon.com, and quite a few streaming Netflix movies/TV shows. Plus we can surf the web together if we're looking to buy something for the family or the house, without having to peer over someone's shoulder or awkwardly deal with a laptop. It's one of the best ideas we've ever had. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Computers in the Bedroom? Next to the Bed?! |

And I've always heard that things like DVDs, CDs, and video games were one of the first things common thieves go for because they're so easy to sell on eBay or at your local used CD store. So by hiding your valuables behind a popular target, you might actually be making it easier for them to find the really good stuff. I can see your point to an extent, but I also feel like if our generation keeps up on technology, that we'll actually leave more behind for future generations. Old photos get destroyed in fires and floods. Shoe boxes of memories get misplaced or accidentally discarded. With digital copies we can just keep on backing up our lives to thumbdrives, the internet, or whatever the next great storage device will be. The only way for our files to become obsolete is if we stop caring about upkeep - if we don't upgrade to the latest file format. But I'm sure even 50 years down the road, someone is going to know how to convert those "old JPGs" to the latest format, just as we can convert 8mm family films to DVD now. And with lossless digital formats, those memories will be as sharp as ever. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | The Downside of a Digital Life: Leaving Memories Behind |

mlleErica - Yes, I have, but that requires a wifi connection, which isn't always available. Nor can the Touch do SMS texting - only email - which not everyone has on their phone, putting me out of touch with quite a few folks. So if they could make an iPhone without the phone (but still use the 3G network of AT&T), I'd be all over it. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Survey: Got A Texting Addiction? |

I send text messages alot, but that's mainly because I hate talking on the phone. If I could have a product that did everything the iPhone did, but without the phone feature, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Survey: Got A Texting Addiction? |

My wife bought me a Diaper Dude for Christmas after we found out we were expecting. She went and bought two large, "girly" bags from Target to use as diaper bags, thinking she'd never want to carry mine. The DD was so handy, though, she actually wound up using it as her primary diaper bag. She still has the other two and uses them when she and our daughter go to "Mommy" events, but on a Saturday afternoon running errands, that DD is usually right by our side. This is my Christmas present this year. All I'm asking for from family is Amazon (Sorry, Staples...) gift cards to cover the cost. I do some freelance writing for mentalfloss.com (free plugs ok?) and plan on using this to write over my workday lunch hour as well as when I'm at the library doing research. It's going to make my life so much easier... Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Re(al)view: Acer Aspire One Netbook A Perfect Affordable Sidekick |

This opens up a whole can of worms that no one manufacturer should want to deal with. What if the smell of dad's new laptop makes Junior a little nauseous? Can Dad exchange it for one that has a better scent or no scent at all? What if the smell wears off over time? Is it then considered defective? Can you "upgrade" the smell at a later date? Ugh. I always "check in on the world" before I go to bed, generally around 1:00am, meaning I surf for a few minutes, check my email, see what's for sale today on woot.com, etc. But, like the first poster, I have a nighttime ritual that helps me decompress a little. And I like to read from a book a little bit just before turning out the lights, so that might contribute to my ease at falling asleep at night. My wife is a stay-at-home mom who is just starting a small craft business to bring in some extra income. She's using an old sewing machine that's been handed down through the generations, so having a shiny, new one that can do all these functions would help her get going in a big way.
