Instead of scissors or a knife, a "seam ripper" is the tool you want to use on the skirt. Slow and tedious, this little sewing gem slices the thread until you have an inch or so free and then upon pulling, prest, you have several inces.

Back in the '80's a brunch of us "in transition" vowed to have condo retirement.. Sadly, we're never all together but I try to stay in contact with them and stay or offer b&b every year or two. Hi, we're going to be driving through town the weekend of... Could we stop off for the night? Followed by provided Dinner out and a bottle of wine. Dirty sheets (bed stripped before we leave) and minimal invasion is what friendship should be about. Otherwise, it's a wasted life without friends.

I have 2 pairs of scissors in the kitchen: 1 in the knife block used only on food items (on the right end of the counter) and one in pen/pencil keeper near the phone ( left end of counter. Keeps the stuff they cut organized, too.

Ah, Youth. When you're over 30 and no matter how hard you work out, it becomes not so easy to crawl around on the floor, you'll regret those upper cabinets. How about nowhere to "hide" stuff from the little darlings? It looks beautiful. It is utterly impractcal.

I only bake cookies once a year, but my Kitchen Aid stand mixer is vital for "Ameretto Dolci (Seet Almond meringe). never realized what real volume was/what I was missing.

Couldn't live without a food processor, although I only own a mini.

Full blender useless real estate, unless cocktail time requires. Much prefer hand blender for soups, etc.

Paint is definitely difficult to choose. Too dark has been my easiest mistake. Sooo easy to get bored with too drk a shade. Cut it half. Your friends may not exclaim in awe, but they don't have to live there

Ten years of New Orleans living taught me the benefit of Mardi Gras decorating. Purple, Green and Gold are a whelcome color chande after all that red and green. I leave out the Christmas green and gold, pack away the red and dig out my beads. PARTY!

Agree with you Mew Mew on the TV/ painting switch. Then you'd have room for a small console table/desk space for serving or a laptop. Might not photograph as spaciously, but living well is the best revenge!
