Hmmm...trouble with this is that this piece of furniture is very well known so it immediately looks like an obvious re-do rather than something that was always that way. I have seen one hack of the PS cabinet where the doors were spray painted different colours and that seemed to be more effective as it didn't look like it was trying to be anything else, more like a 'limited edition'. This post is timely as after literally months and months of trying to figure out something to put my music player/CDs on today I settled on the Omar shelving system. BUT, I will customise it by spray painting it white and getting some wood cut to size and then distressing it to to make it look old/reclaimed and then sitting it on each shelf. This reminds me of the budget guest houses I've stayed in when backpacking around SE Asia, South America and Egypt.
