I rent a beautiful house with marble countertops, and it's incredibly stressful. We have a dull spot from some lemonade that we cleaned up the second it spilled. We've made massive wooden cutting boards that cover most of the counters. I love how they look. So bright and fresh. But they aren't practical. If you are a messy cook, don't do it. If you are incredibly tidy and don't cook often, then it's a fine choice. They are definitely pretty. Would I Be Crazy to Choose Marble Countertops for My Kitchen? Marble Countertop Pros and Cons |

Thanks for including the maple slab table with the vintage base from The Design Pallet! The table was made from cut offs from a bigger table project, and THEN the cut offs from the side table were turned into these amazing book ends: http://www.etsy.com/listing/97558192/locally-salvaged-maple-bookends-eco Good stuff! If Craigslist doesn't get a lot of traffic in your area, any industrial part of the town you live in will have them sitting besides dumpsters and stacked. Just be sure and ask if it's ok to take 'em unless it is otherwise obvious. One of other bit of advice...most pallets here in the USA aren't treated with chemicals in anyway but it is always good to give em a good spray down or pressure wash. Pallets live long interesting lives, and you never know what they carried once before. Have fun! Five Fabulous Outdoor Pallet Projects |
