I'd recommend a luxury padded vinyl flooring. You can get them in so many designs/patterns, they're super quiet (no dogs tip tapping nails, etc.), and super durable. And probably the easiest thing ever to care for. I'd check them out at a flooring store, you'd be surprised what's out there now. People have no idea that my floors are vinyl and I'm always getting compliments on them.
