I'm new to baking coconut macaroons. What is the reasoning for using egg whites instead of a whole egg? What would be the result if you used whisked whole eggs instead?

Option 1! I like how its more of a conversational set up. Also, having a chair between the kitchen and hallway is a bit awkward, especially the Poang chair. If anything, that area could have a solid arm chair. I would probably prefer a nice chest/drawer/storage nook on that wall instead. So, option 1!

Not sure about the dimensions of the West Elm item, but I have been looking for a small media solution also for my living room. Done a bit of browsing at IKEA for a solution, and their Besta line is pretty decent with a lot customizable features.

This "shelf extension" is about 24" wide and 15" tall. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20134051/

This frame is also 24" wide and 25" tall. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00134052/

You could add legs to make them taller, or stack them up to add additional shelves. They also have a wider version, but perhaps this will get you thinking a bit about options!

Keep in mind these are not solid wood. The Besta line is also on sale now if you are part of IKEA family (free program).

I have my attached garage, two en-suite bedrooms, outdoor patio and two stories. What I don't have is an updated kitchen. I moved in with grand plans to renovate it on the cheap... but have since realized that until I get married and stop living with roommates, it's not worth the monetary investment. Even with that logical thought, it's hard to walk into my cramped kitchen without cringing a bit.

I second amandaRH's request!

I love the bright oversized armchair in #3 and the close-to-the-floor option of #8, but my space may be better suited for the armless chaise of #10 due to space limitations.

I would love to set a a comfortable seating area in a little nook I have just in front of my bedroom window.... !
