My biggest problem is external noise/smells. My college student upstairs neighbors access their apartment via an external staircase that is right next to my bedroom window, and I swear they always wear boots. I live across the street from a basketball court, and in the summer it attracts several would be basketball stars at 2 am. I leave the windows open on hotter days because I don't have a/c, which works fine until a skunk rambles by in the early morning, my dog barks at the skunk, the skunk sprays, and I wake up to a foul skunk taste in my mouth.

The Poang is a great inexpensive chair. It's even better if you pair it with the Poang ottoman. It's very comforable and reasonably durable and not terrible looking.

As a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria I lived in a 12 by 12 foot studio apartment. It included a bathroom with an open shower (i.e. nozzle on the wall next to the toilet, drain on the floor) and a closet. I had a bed, a desk, a shelf, a mini fridge and an electric stove/oven unit on a table next to the fridge. Outside my window was a clothesline unit to dry my clothes on. I painted the walls blue the first week I moved in. Although it was small, there was something very peaceful and cozy about it. I definitely learned how to keep a small place clean (hint - cut down on clutter!).

Another benefit of filing a police report - you may be eligible for restitution if your loss wasn't covered by insurance, even if they don't catch the perpetrator. My windshield was smashed last summer and the damage wasn't covered by my insurance company. However, I was refunded the full cost of the repair by a local victim's assistance fund.
