Wow, that's a little harsh kushkush... who shit in your cornflakes this morning?

Thank you everyone for all the comments and help with this. I have always valued a comfortable living space and adore Apartment Therapy for all the ideas I get. Dorm living is unique and sometimes awkward, but yah... I'm paying a lot for my education, but I might as well enjoy it while it's here... and for me, that means spending a few extra dollars and taking the time necessary to make it comfortable and amazing. I painted 2 of the 4 walls yesterday a light sandy beach color. It just seemed best for the small space, plus I have a lot of colorful things to put in the room... so I didn't want the paint to compete so much. I'm going to look into rugs, black out curtains, and storage for my closet (I look the doors off!).

I'll keep checking in for more helpful comments. I wish you all the best in decorating and again, thank you for all your great ideas and support! =)

Hey Everyone! This will be my senior year as I prepare to graduate with a degree in Social Work. I've been planning my dorm room decor for a few months now, but would really like some ideas. Although I've never had a theme, I'm going with a beach one this year! I get to paint, but I can not decide on a color (only 1 allowed). Also, I'd love to use wall space, but I'm not sure how to in such a small space without it seeming so crowded. I have a tall dark wood bookcase that I'd like to paint, but still... any ideas of other wall storage?? What about under-the-bed storage that isn't an eye sore?? Gosh I need help!

Yah, I was going to ask about how you measured and cut the tabletop and shelves so perfectly too! I think the space looks great and is the perfect spot to have moments of creativeness! Also, I'm definitely stealing the idea of covering the ikea magnet strips with wrapping paper... why didn't I think of that??

Great job!!

My vote is for the sectional... but I get the corner spot!

Yuck. I'm an all wooden hanger girl. I made the switch a few years ago and have loved opening my closet and seeing the organization since! Plus, I'm a plus-sized girl too... so I'm sensitive to the slippage some hangers cause, but some of my wooden hangers have little notches that the straps go into... so problem solved!

I have just a cell phone... due to moving around a lot in college. When I have my own place again, I'll most likely get a land line though with a phone like the one in the photo (not a cordless). I like having to slow down my day and sit to talk. With a cell phone, I feel like I'm always rushed and not giving my full attention to who I'm talking to. Plus, it seems as though just when the conversation gets good... my phone dies. Annoying! Ha, ha... this does seem like a hot topic though with lots of opinions!

Leopard print? Really?? Well that's exciting. As for the black & white combo... I agree, it looks like it was pulled right off the bed and down to the park. I go to the beach for picnics... so I like the sheet idea so I can feel the hot sand under me as I read a book and r e l a x... and drink a cold one (they are def. okay on the beach)! Currently I use a very old thin blanket that belonged to my great grammy... and I love it!

I think with the right decorations around it... it could work, but knowing me I'd get excited and forget it was fake... rip it open wanting to escape the office... and be pissed. I hope I never find myself working in a basement or cold cubical... but if you do and you like these, get them!

Some elements of this house are nice to me, but in general it seems so cold and non-cozy. I do appreciate clean lines though, but mixed with big fluffy pillows and a splash or two of color. I do adore the windows and the view of the city... wow!

Testing... hi everyone! I adore this site and come to it almost daily for decorating ideas and inspiration. My only frustration would be the giant ads in the middle of the pages... but I suppose you have to makes deals with the devil to get what you want sometimes. Happy Hunting!
