lol..for EVERY budget?! come on..these are EXPENSIVE bassinets...im not gonna lie, my daughter had a land of nod white wicker bassinet (we still have it, its in the basement waiting to be used again) but she hardly ever slept in it...she ended up sleeping in her boppy bouncer seat most of the time Stylish Bassinets for Every Budget |

super cute room..although i do have to admit the garland on the crib is scary..hoping thats more for show for the picture and not something your gonna keep on..and yeah hope the pictures &decor get moved up a few feet once your LO starts standing..i made the mistake of putting pictures next to my daughters bed and heard a crash, (custom picture, one of my friends drew for my daughter for our baby shower) was on the ground..glass EVERYWHERE even some in her crib..yup i took all the pictures off that very moment and has never put pictures with in her reach since! nice idea but i dont think i would make this..i dont think the 5 gallon buckets are ment to hold that much weight and pressure from being swung..i guess it could last a few weeks or months but keep a close eye on it and check it every now n then to make sure the plastic isnt breaking...i kinda like the idea of making the 5 gallon bucket into a hanging flower pot or small hanging garden better DIY Swing from a 5 Gallon Bucket EcoProjecteer |

but honestly i dont know what the big deal is...if you want to get your kid a toddler bed cool..if you want to switch them to a twin first thats great...whatever works for you and your child is awesome..if you have a small space (i know how that feels, chicago apartments are not big!) i think a toddler bed works great..it normally last you a few years(depending on your childs growth) if you have the extra space in the room then go with a twin! might as well it'll last you longer! since were having #2 by the time this new baby shares a room with our daughter(whos 2 1/2 right now..she'll be atleast 3 1/2-4 by the time they share a room) we'll 1:hopefully have moved to a bigger apartment and 2: will have made the switch to a twin sized bed(looking at the ikea kura loft/bunk bed...seems to fit the best..its a twin sized bed and its not nearly as high as normal bunk beds) The Great Toddler Bed Debate Reader Intelligence Report |

@greenwoodgal- thats what we did..our daughter has the bigger room and we have the smaller room.. our room fits a queen bed and a dresser, thats all it will fit...my daughters room is about 2x's that size (which still isnt that big) but it fits her bed, dresser and toys..we only sleep in our room so its not a big deal..she plays in hers all the time.plus we dont have to have nearly as much toys&stuff out in the living room The Great Toddler Bed Debate Reader Intelligence Report |

we got our daughter a toddler bed when she turned 2(the bed only cost $50 brand new!! thats not expensive at all!!)..she had a easy smooth transition from her crib..took only 3 nights for her to get the hang of sleeping in it..shes 2 1/2 now and i just switched to a ikea kritter bed..its larger then a toddler bed but smaller then a twin..only lame thing is since its smaller then a twin but larger then a toddler bed the mattress only takes ikea bedding...plus side is im still using her crib mattress, but there is about a foot of extra space which i shoved stuffed animals in...she still had plenty of room to grow in her toddler bed but i kinda wanted to get her a new bed to go with her new decor for her room...im glad i got the kritter bed since its larger but doesnt take up too much space like a twin would..its not too high off the ground but it is higher then a toddler bed, still easy for her to get in and out of and it will last a long time since its almost the size of a twin..i think by the time we switch her over to a twin bed we will have moved apartments anyways and hopefully she'll have a bigger room :) The Great Toddler Bed Debate Reader Intelligence Report |

we live in chicago and our 2 1/2 daughter has the "big room" (which is about the size of a queen bed, dresser&a chair,if placed right) we have the small room(queen bed&dresser) we have 1 closet(for us all to share) in our 2 bedroom apartment.were going to have to get rid of our dresser in our room to make way for the new baby(not too sure how thats gonna work out yet).. but in a year or so the new baby is gonna share a room with our daughter, not too sure how were gonna fit 2kids in 1 room with all their stuff (dresser, beds, toys, etc) plus we dont have alot of money to make extravagant fixtures like the ones in the photos..their all nice but semi impractical for lower-mid class families! i think its a good idea..my daughters room has this weird walk in area..we put her toddler bed in the walk in area and her actual room is a play room..she loves it and its nice for when friends come over. if your kids sleep in the closet just make sure you have extra fold out beds or bedding so when they have sleep overs they can sleep in the room part Is it OK for Kids to Sleep in the Closet? |

@LEPIDOPTERY yeah alot of the schools in chicago offer scholarships for low income families but you still need to apply in the city wide lottery and if you happen to be chosen, the scholarships can be anywhere from 15-70%depending on your income(but according to most schools never as high as 70%) but when its $15,000+ a year even 70% would be waayyy too much for us to pay for just 1 year of school :( not to mention most of the schools have entry fees(normally $2000) which arent covered by the scholarships..also the scholarships are limited(since the most of the schools are private it doesnt get money from the gov and the money it receives is from donations) so there is limited amount of space/funds for those low income kids on scholarships :( yeah i ave looked into every which way we would be able to put our daughter in one of the montessori schools in chicago but with our income and planning on having a 2nd child its not possible (unless the scholarship went up to 90+%, then maybe lol) Montessori At Home Roundup |

im not a montessori kid, never had the privilege. i have a 2 1/2 year old and would love to put her in a montessori school..but sadly the cost is WAY too much. i DO find it ironic that most montessori schools are private and are tuition based as montessori was founded on and based on low income children and how they learned ...it seems weird that now and days only children of parents with high forms of income can afford to go to a montessori school...there is a few public montessori schools in chicago(where we live) but we are 1.5 miles outside the schools boundary so in order to apply i have to go through a city wide lottery in hopes of my child being able to attend. i personally love the montessori way of teaching but i do find it sad that only the privileged can go with out all the trouble of being in a lottery. i do think if maria montessori was still alive she would not be happy to know that low income children or children from "lower"middle class familys would not be able to attend Montessori At Home Roundup |
