I just had some out of town guests and had cooked bacon the night before. A skillet of apple pie spice and cinnamon and a little sugar and water simmered for 15 minutes made the whole house smell amazing. Totally neutralizes icky greasy smells House For Sale? What NOT To Cook |

My apartment has concrete floors, countertops, and shower. They look like they were stained, but the landlord has not taken the time to treat the concrete or re-seal it and the color is faded in some spots and dirty in others. It's impossible to clean so my counters look dirty all the time. It drives me crazy. I do love the look of grey natural concrete with a high polish, and a coat of clear on top, I'm not sure the technical name for it. But unless you want to commit to that kind of look with all the upkeep it requires, I would say steer clear. It does not age well at all. If I could choose, I would pick wood, or tile. I went around my room putting little strips of black tape over glowing lights from things like chargers, internet router, even the tv's "off" setting has a glowing light. I live in a studio so there is no getting around having all these things in my sleeping space and covering them up really helps to cut down on the amount of light in the room.
