SMUGMUG is the best, super professional and even best it syncs with their Camera Awesome App for iPhone, which has revolutionised how I take photos. Take a shot with you iPhone and you can upload to your Smugmug account, or Flickr, Facebook etc.

I used dozens of photo imaging sites before using Smugmug, and trust me if you use it you will be hooked, especially on Camera Awesome, it's what Apple should have invented for their camera app!

Such beautiful brass handles! Then they were ruined by ugly modern hex screws, come on guys!! Take those bloody things out and put in some proper flathead brass screws. The devil is in the details. I know trademen love their power tools, but certainly hand screwing 8 screws couldn't be too hard could it?

Ahhh Mustique, you didn't mention Basils restaurant. It is an amazing story how Lord Glenconner (not Baron) created the island, then was booted out of paradise. There is a great DVD about the story ...

YES, I agree with other posters, it's criminal to remove beautiful old floorboards with lovely patina. Considering the tiny apartments in France so tastefully done why weren't there any French entrants in the Small Cool competition.

Like the poster above said if you want moderne, why live in an old apartment. When I was a child in the 1970s in Melbourne, Australia it was all the rage to do this to all the beautiful old Victorian era buildings, and then in the 90s everybody had to spend a fortune to remove ugly 70s orange plastic kitchens, horrible wallpaper and tiles.

It;s like giving your lovely old Grandma Botox and a facelift, doesn't look right.

Come on AT, have a look at the following links and you will see some superb Parisian apartments, many have modern style but tastefully done. When it comes to Small Cool nobody can beat the Parisians.

I travelled around Australia in a vintage 1950 bondwood caracan. The interior floor space was 6 feet by 10 feet, but it had been built by a retired cabinetmaker, who had ingeniously used every tiny space. Each cupboard had special fittings for plates, cups, and utensils, Under the couches there was extra storage, and I had a canvas annex which doubled my living space, I had folding table and chairs and TV table to make a lounge room in the annex. It was perfectly sufficient for living, and I only sold it to travel to the Philippines; where I lived 1 year alone on a tropical island.

My goal now is to build a small houseboat to live at the marina where I live. I think tiny spaces are far more homely and compactness makes you use and live in the space more thoughtfully.

What nothing by ENID BLYTON??

The three books in the Magic Faraway series are the best books, great for boys or girls. Do yourself a favour and get the older versions, cheaply available on AbeBooks.com, not the modern edited versions. My little girl is addicted to these.

At the moment I am reading her the TASHI series which is fantastic, with great illustrations.

Other great books for older kids are The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton, and Swallows and Amazons and others by Arthur Ransome.
