I wish someone would do this for me, so that I could get my own chores done. And I'm the adult in the house.

My friend's grandma had a laundry shoot, though it was a lot bigger than this. Big enough, in fact, for two eight year olds to slide down it and into the basement.

Last week I ordered a black and white chevron rug because the price was GREAT and I thought it looked pretty cool. Then I found out the next day that chevron was out. :P Then I went to Target and chevron was everywhere. So I guess that explains why it's suddenly uncool.

Does it get too hot? This is genius and I love it, as long as it isn't going to ruin anything.

I'm doing this! I'm moving into an apartment this fall that I haven't so much as seen a picture of the interior. (I've seen the outside, and it's fine, the neighborhood is fine.) All I know is that it has two bedrooms.

I'm nervous, but really, it's all I can afford and it's in a good safe location, so it will have to work. *fingers crossed*

That Kennedy chair is gorgeous, but it looks like an eye gouger for little kids. I'm kind of scared of it.

I'm Gen Y, and everyone I know gardens. Of course, we live in a rural area where everyone has a yard, so that makes it simple. I'm getting ready to live in an apartment, so no garden for me next year. :(

I want! I never sit upright on a couch.

I agree with those who replace the shower head and toilet seat. I ALWAYS do this, and usually leave the upgrades behind. It isn't very expensive, and I love having a fresh, clean new shower head and toilet seat every four or five years. (It's also when I replace my bed pillows and broom.)

Reversible Upgrades: Things to Temporarily Change in a Rental

My bookshelves are filled with children's literature (it's mine, not my kids'!) like the Little House series, Roald Dahl books, Harry Potter and Anne of Green Gables; current pop fiction like The Hunger Games and Twilight (shut up); tons and tons of farm and garden books, and classics like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Wuthering Heights.

I only buy books that I'm going to read over and over again. Everything else is borrowed from the library. I wonder how it will all change now that I recently bought a Kindle?

My living room bookcase is a little more refined (my very very favorites and classics) and my bedroom holds my guilty pleasures. (Twilight is hidden in my bedroom.)

I don't like granite, either. I rent, and my countertops are laminate, and they look like butcher block. Not ideal, but I actually don't hate them. I would far prefer real butcher block.

I'm trying to find a rental right now, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find one in my price range, and if I could find one with granite countertops I wouldn't complain even one little bit. I WOULD complain about tile, because I think they would be a massive pain in the butt. (I would complain, but I'd still jump on it because of the impossible task of finding ANYWHERE I can afford, but I'd still complain.)

I think it would be far more green to skip building new structures, no matter how green, and put the Starbucks into an already existing building. It's not exactly like the world is short on those.

I like the pie crust that comes in a roll, and you simply unroll and put in your own pie plate. It looks more like homemade, and it is tasty.

Good idea, to make them in the oven. We've always called them 'egg in a frame.'

Just FYI, I've seen similar knobs to what Anthropologie sells at Pier 1. I have no idea what the quality is on the knobs from either store, but just thought I'd throw it out there for people on a budget. :)

I let my kids eat all they wanted. My only rule was that if I found ANY trash on the ground, every bit of the candy was going in the trash. (I haaaate finding lolly sticks and gum wrappers all over the place.)

My kids have already eaten all their candy. I am okay with that. They were also extremely generous in sharing even the really good stuff with me and their dad.

My kids do not go crazy on sugar anyway. I also don't like the idea of them eating a bit of candy every day for weeks, as I feel that would be worse on their teeth.

I definitely would keep that lino! What a cool fun color.

I'd probably skip the wallpaper though. I do think it would be a bit of a pattern overload.

And yeah, add a rug near his bed. :)

I like it. I've always sat way back in my chair, feet propped up, even when typing. I'm not comfortable in ergonomically correct positions.

"The thing that bothers me is that in the photo, the labels clearly do not match the specimens!"

Yes! I just couldn't figure out why the thing in the middle was labeled grasshopper (and then I noticed the other two) and it totally distracted me from anything else.
