The plant shower doesn't work for the type of very large houseplants she is talking about. I have two that are almost at the ceiling. A paper towel damp with some milk cleans them up and so does a little mayo.

The problem that i'm having is reaching the large top leaves towards the ceiling that are clearly dusty but i can't get to them.

I have used mayo for years per my mom's instructions as well. I recently tried a tiny bit of milk and it worked just as well. Would milk clog the pores?

There are recent medical studies that say women in particular, need total darkness when they sleep for their hormone levels to regulate and it reduces their risk of breast cancer. So i say blackout curtains for women and set an alarm.

I have been a huge fan of Michael Eastman and his photos are the best photographs of horses I have ever seen. He also helped when I reached out to him to try and ban sending american horses to be eaten for their horse meat in japan and europe. He loves his subject. I wish I could afford one of his large pieces but his book of his horse shots will have to do for now.

I'm thinking of buying these S chairs featured in current domino mag from Modern Dose.

Has anyone sat in them?? Curious if they are comfortable enough for dinner parties and not just good looking!

Thanks,

I joined greendimes in october and my understanding besides contacting companies to keep you off the mailing lists, you can put in catalogs. I have over 50 at current count between two adults and previous owners. It's astounding to think you get over 50 catalogs you don't want. I hope I understand the site because I stopped calling them once i joined them.

I was also told by one of the customer service people from a catalog i had called repeatedly, that every time you order from them it generates a fresh catalog, which I didn't know.
If you order on the phone tell them not to send a catalog from that purchase.

Yes, but be careful. I hired a few from craig's list to help catalouge china I wanted to sell and store, and various projects after a move... the two I hired did a terrible job and didn't seem to have much knowledge or experience once they got here. I would only use someone that you have heard is actually good that advertises on there, I wasted money and still needed the job done.

I wrote a question about this earlier I bought one from them online and it was SOOOOO loud, my 7 year old ran screaming to the kitchen to complain and she is hardly the quiet type.
I couldn't believe how loud it was.

I sent it back to make sure it wasn't just a defective model, which is what I'm hoping for. As someone with alleriges and mild germphobia I am there target market and really wanted to love it.

But after two calls to customer service, their "'warehouse is backed up" so two weeks later I still don't have a vacuum or an answer.

I would say it's pricy, loud and so far not very good customer service in place if there's an issue with your 499
PLUS purchase!

I love the concept but I wish I had bought the dyson and could have a clean house right now!

They are supposed to start selling them at bed bath and best buy soon, so maybe if people wait and get it there it would be easier to return if they don't like it.

Hope this is helpful for those contemplating buying this.

I can't wait to read what you think of the Halo. I'm mailing mine back I ordered this week, as a germaphobe with allergies living with a carpeted bedroom, I had high hopes... But besides having no attachment, the Halo vacuum was the loudest vacuum I have every heard!!!! Maybe I got a defective one, but is yours incredibly loud, a basic high pitched scream coming out of it?

I was really hoping to love it.

A great way to absorb odors in the fridge is put coffee beans on a small dish and leave it there a few days. I also do this in my car a small amount of beans in a brown paper bag.
I think I read this from Martha years ago, and it works.

Has anyone used sydney harbor paints in silver or gold?
I am thinking of doing one wall in my bedroom in their paint.

Would love to know if anyone has used them....

This is very timely for me. I came home from my honeymoon last month to my santa monica home buglarized. They got all my jewerly as they broke open our safe. They got laptops, cameras, and all the drawers were open and upended. The forsenics team had been very thorough trying to get prints, but what you never see on CSI is that this leaves gray powder on EVERYTHING, every surface, carpet, floors, etc. I'm still trying to get it off of things.

The cops said a Dog is the best protection, an alarm, which we didn't have, and though we had stopped our papers and mail some wedding gifts were on the steps for a day or two before my person brought them in. A house sitter may not have prevented it as they hit a few houses in our area and some were during the day when they were only gone for an hour and left a window open and the alarm off.

The safe we bought at staples for 300, turned out to be useless, it was crow barred open so don't assume that will protect your things.

Now with my things gone, I wish I had photographed my stuff, and jewelry. So would advise to do that and get excellent home or renters insurance.

The creepy feeling from the invasion has not gone away.

Since it's outdoor month I have a burning question.
I bought a teak patio set off ebay. The cushions are stained and have been partially eaten by our backyard squirrels. They are an odd size. I need two chair and two love seats and the vendor is no longer on ebay.
I've tried to find a cushion to replace it somewhere with no luck. Anyone know a person who does slipcovers that might sew them? Though I worry after all that the squirrels will go at them again.

Have a lot of relatives coming in a month and want to have it redone or new ones. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

stacey

Hey Alex,

Lost internet yesterday, thanks time warner! You are so on the money with kelly w! I do like her style a lot. I will check those sites and ideas.
Glad you liked the pattern I may just do that one, I just wanted to have a thorough check before I made that committment, plus the price just jumped 15% two weeks ago.

Thanks so much!

Hey Alex,

I did check the site and didn't find a lot of china resources that weren't basic white available online. I put a link of what I like, quirky and I'm already getting casual rosenthal white, so I wanted to get a fine china that was modern but timeless. Just looking for any sources I may have missed or that are not listed on AT

HI,

I posted this late a week ago, but never got a response... so sorry for reposting but still need help.

Any ideas of sites of cool china besides the usual suspects of
bloomies, macy's C and B, etc. I'm registering and looking for good sites for modern fine china. Also, I have already looked at micheal c. fina. Trying to find off the beaten path that I know at readers will clue me into!

Thanks,

stacey

Hi,

I'm getting married and based in la, but have guests all over the place. Looking for place to register that has really great modern china patterns. I've looked at michael c. fina and they have one I like, but wanted to get some other ideas than the usual suspects. Thought there might be some really AT type online/brick store I didn't know about...

Thanks,

stacey

Just got our Roomba last week, the kids find it very spellbinding and our friends get a big kick out of it. I'm just happy to have it work it's magic in the kitchen. I wish it was a little quieter.

My mom had me clean the house plants with large leaves with a small amount of mayo, they were instanting shining and stayed that way a long time. I do that now and hopefully, it's not bad for the plant as it makes the leaves look great.
