1) Look at this as a supplement, not a total replacement. You can still have your remote collection at your disposal, but if you can't find the one remote you are looking for b/c it's buried in the sofa cushion, just pull out your phone!

2) Battery life is not an issue at all. Do you know how long the batteries last in remotes? Like, years. Battery life is not really a factor.

3) No physical buttons is a def. minus. But somehow we've figured out how to type all of our emails and messages on phones without a 102 key keyboard. I think "gestures" will also allow you to control the remote w/o looking. Ex: upward swipe w/ thumb: vol. up, downward swipe, vol down. Right swipe, channel up. Circle, favorite channel 12, Something like that.

4) If you are not in the room, anyone with a phone can download the app and control the TV. (or just find the original TV remote) Also, you and your significant other can both have remotes if you both have phones and battle out what to watch.

5) Bonus feature.. some of the phone software has a built-in program guide which allow you to browse what's on and simply tap the program you want to view. The remote jumps to exactly the channel you want. The possibilities are really endless.

I'm really looking forward to this. I already appreciate being able to control our Roku w/ my phone app over wifi. For those peeps in the market for a new phone, though, there are a few that are starting to come out w/ built-in "IR blasters," allowing the phone to function as a universal remote w/o expensive add-on devices like the Logitech described above. I think the new Samsung Galaxy 4 and the HTC One (for sure) will have this awesome functionality. HTC One review on Engadget

Is that sarcasm? Great deal? $200 for some wire and a few wooden balls? Are you that guy who lights his cigars with hundred dollar bills? :)

Does anyone else have experience w/ the PH5? I love the look of this thing, but I'm afraid I'd have to shell out for more than one (as pictured above!) to adequately light our dining table. And also, how much light goes up to illuminate the ceiling? The last thing I want is to recreate the dogs-playing-poker scene. Help?

Why do people need hooks that fold up? Hooks are great. I love me some hooks. (Shaker pegs are the bomb!)

But what's the big deal w/ the fold up hook?
