How about a five-gallon bucket with the top covered with carved upholstery foam, and then covered in spotted fabric?

I just started folding and then standing my daughter's clothes on end, so it's kind of like a filing cabinet. You can see everything without digging and insert and remove clothing without disrupting too much. Works great.

If there aren't egg allergies in the class, make meringue cookies with and without red food coloring to make them pink.

I just made the recipe on the weight watchers site (vanilla and chocolate meringue cookies) and reduced the sugar by half. Also subbed cream of tartar for the vinegar. They turned out super! 4 egg whites plus a handful of other ingredients makes 45 cookies.

Oh, and don't use your convection oven. My top rack of cookies was totally flattened, but still yummy.

That's what I was thinking, Daffodil. Or buy a cute turkey placemat and attach it to a pillowcase, which you could then slip over the chair back.

Thanks for the tip, NSane. Just received the lattice top pocket pie mold in a care package. I'll try it with the rings and report back!

When they melt, does your drink turn into that same dark gray-olive color as the rinse cup from kids' watercolor paints?

Wow! These are great-looking. I needed something exactly like this, so I just bought them and used a promo code (148945) from the evreward site for 10% off! AND evreward included a reminder to go thru upromise for even more love. Yay. (No I am in no way affiliated with that site; just found it googling for a coupon and thought I would share.)

Sorry, no suggestions, but I just got the chills reading aerialsoul's comment above. Their BODIES can still slip through the stairs, leaving them dangling. That's one of the reasons why the minimum distance between crib slats is so small: so their little bodies can't get through.

silverlychee: Sew Mama Sew had a tutorial on scalloped garlands with some great time-saving tips. I've made the pointed pennants, but will the rounded ones a whirl for an upcoming party.

...am I the only one wondering how tall Arkay is?

My worst housekeeping offense is not filing paper as it comes in. We have a system in place; just don't follow through. "Important" paperwork peeks out from every corner of our main living space like a cockroach infestation. It's messy and also costly when we miss deadlines or the few bills we don't e-pay.

I'm considering disguising filing cabinets as end tables in the living room to encourage better filing habits.

Could you sew sturdy fabric to the bottom and then use the resulting piece to make a book display like this one? I guess you'd have to make a rod pocket at the top of the bumper, too. But I think it would be cute.

If you'd like to try to make some "footless" ones yourself, Stephanie of little birds posted a free pattern a few years ago. First, stop by this flickr group for inspiration then click the link at the bottom of the group page for the pattern. I have a forest of them made from scraps.
