I agree with Gunnarsmom! I love Charlie's Soap for Laundry Detergent. http://www.amazon.com/Charlies-Soap-Powder-2-64-Loads/dp/B0018B15FE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327519337&sr=8-1

Tried it last year and now I can't get enough. I throw a little borax in for the really tough loads.

For stains, I love Babyganics stain remover. I bought it for most of my friends (even if they don't have kids). http://www.amazon.com/BabyGanics-Stain-Remover-Fluid-Bottles/dp/B004U7NQRS/ref=sr_1_27?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1327519455&sr=1-27

This is a little out there, but I think basic yoga stretches can help anyone, anytime. You don't need a gym or fancy equipment or even much time to reap the benefits. I think every grade school should be teaching our children basic yoga.

Really, I think I've already posted this, but I've used my Timbuk2 bag almost every day for eight years and it is still in great shape. That fact just hit me the other day, and I'm shocked. I've never had a bag last eight years. The camera bag is a great idea.

I've had my Timbuk2 messenger bag for 8 years now, and although I'm quite bored with the design, it is still in great shape and works great. Never thought it would last this long and I use it almost every day.

I've done to baking soda/vinegar thing to slow drains with mixed results. I find it really helps to deodorize the drain. But I had a really stopped up tub and no time to fix it so I sent my hubby to get some Drain-O. Knowing that I hate chemicals, he came back with Plumb-Away! Really wonderful product. Not perfect, because there is still packaging, but so much better than Drain-o. Here's a review I wrote:

Note: I would not recommend this on cheap plastic piping. What did wonders to my tube blew apart my neighbors' sink piping.

I think this could be true for somethings, but painting? Come on, it is simplest DIY thing. Bad example.

A Year in Bed: A Modest Proposal

I did the "no-poo" thing for about a year and thought it was okay until, on a trip, I used a friend's shampoo and I was reminded about how great my hair looked with shampoo--I mean, it was a night and day difference.

I'm all for DIY and simplifying life--but I've learned the hard way that my hair needs more than baking soda and a vinegar rinse.

I might be behind the times, but I still think that BP should be paying for all the clean-up and and the wages lost because of this oil spill disaster. I mean, BP did make 5.6 billion in profit in the first quarter of 2010 alone.

Then we (the hard working non-billionaires) can use save our charitable donations for natural disasters like the earthquake in Haiti, etc. Just saying. . .

We had friends house-sit for us over the holidays. We came home to a sparkling apartment. Shiny floors, clean sheets, everything. It was wonderful and I was very happy--but for one thing.

I use only eco-friendly cleaning products, detergent, etc. They did not when they cleaned. I could smell the chemicals from the hardwood floor cleaner, the perfume from the laundry detergent, etc. I felt my organic cotton sheets were given a chemical bath.

I find that if I don't have my eco-friendly version of a certain thing on hand when my household runs out, there is a chance that my husband will go out and by the "toxic" option as long a it is cheap.

So, to prevent this from happening, I also have my eco-friendly items with a back-up:
toilet paper
dish soap
shampoo
Castile soap (for hand soap and shower)
Laundry detergent
Vinegar
