A few years ago I was on a bed-rest for 4 weeks during my 3rd pregnancy. I had two older children, toddlers, to take care of that constantly trashed the place. In order to cope, I had a friend set up stations around the bed I was on... One was for toys, one was for food, one for crafts and one was for medicines, band-aids and trash. I essentially confined the little ones to the living room and we went on our day. Most days, I'd only have to get up once or twice (bathroom breaks). I did, however, have to relinquish my normal idea of "clean" and just accept a new normal for the 4 weeks. Homekeeping When You're Home Sick |

Yep... Agreed. Anything that eliminates food waste is a good thing. That food doesn't break down properly stored in the bottle like that. I do have one concern, though; what does this coating do during the recycling process? It should break down if it's food safe, but sometimes certain coatings destroy batches of recycling. I'd just find the largest rubbermaid container you can find and decorate it with vinyl stickers. Depending on the size of your shower, you could get a galvanized feeder/waterer from a livestock store. When I was a kid, we lived in the forest in Northern Canada and had to haul and boil water and that's what we used as our tub. Toddler in a Shower-Only Home? Good Questions |

Haha. That's awesome. When I grew up I lived across the street from a church that had a similar look. It too had a small replica beside it that housed the lawnmower and a few gardening tools for the church. Support Education and Score A Few Deals at School Auctions |

My ex-husband chose not to drink because his father was an alcoholic and died (along with his 9 year old cousin who was in the car) driving into a lake and my ex just didn't want to go there at all!! People used to come up and harass him about not drinking and he'd just tell the story about his father. End of conversation. People choose not to drink for many reasons; some completely arbitrary. People just need to relax about the whole thing. So many of my friends choose not to drink. I offer a glass of wine or beer and if it's refused, I offer water, juice, etc. No big deal. An 800 sq. ft. 1940's home for myself, my husband and our 3 school aged boys. When we moved into a 2000 sq. ft. house, I found it so quiet in the kitchen and main living space that I bought budgies to have some background noise! I'm happy for more space, but I miss the closeness our family had when we all had to squish around the dining table to eat. :) How Small is the Smallest Space You've Ever Called Home? Reader Survey |

I lived in an 850sq ft home with three boys. We loved it when we moved in as the home had great character, but slowly, over the years, the neighbourhood grew wilder, the space got smaller as our boys got bigger, and our landlord was increasingly annoying (showing up unannounced, ripping out the garden space because he wanted to park his car, etc.) So, we moved. My husband and I were both in university at the time and it was insane, but we're so glad we did. We found a whole house, upstairs and down with a large yard and a garden space for a couple of hundred dollars more a month. When Do You Know It's Time to Move? |

Yes! Clean as you go is a must. Up until last year my family of 5 lived in a 850sq. ft house build in the 40's. As you can imagine, the kitchen was small. I had about 2ft of counter space. I did not lay everything out ahead of time, as in such a small kitchen everything is reachable, but I did put things away as soon as I used them. This takes a bit of practice, as sometimes a pot will be boiling over just as you are trying to put the milk back in the fridge, but eventually it just gets added into the cooking process...
