We have river stone in our backyard. Too big to get stuck in shoes. Smooth and easier on the feet than crushed gravel. Pretty. It is a pain to keep it weed and leaf free. We have dogs and a relatively small city backyard, so it 's a good solution for us. Grass really isn't an option if we want to let the dogs outside. Grass Alternative: Gravel Landscaping |

The color in these photos must have been altered, which makes it hard to judge the true appearance of the space. Mel's Complete & Balanced Small Cool Contest |

In the age of bedbugs, I simply cannot fathom owning a storage bed. Or any bed without a simple metal frame. I won't even let my beds touch the walls. It's unfortunate. When I see apartments on here with nifty beds built into nooks or into lofts I just think, "what if...". Anybody who has had them will know what I'm talking about, I think. 10 Sleek Platform Beds Under $1000 |

It is a great idea, but hardly a new one. My husband's grandmother has marble saddles (the kind you can get at a tile store for $15) on all her radiators, serving this purpose. Nice for keeping your pie warm. The marble looks quite nice too. Turn Your Radiator into a Heat Plate |
