We bought the PB sofa pictured here one year ago, and are very pleased with the construction of the piece. It is sturdy and the cushions are down wrapped so although this particular sofa appears much more frumpy on a daily basis than it looks in this picture, the cushions bounce right back with a little fluffing. It is very comfortable and I would recommend it. We also have a 6 year old Troy sectional from Crate and Barrel that is still great. These companies may be overpriced depending on which sofa you select, but overall, I have found them to be of good quality and worth the money.

Love your home. That headboard is so simple and genius & looks amazing with the more refined white linens. Great Job!!

I did this in my house, which has a fairly tight entryway, no room for a console table, etc. However, it did have a double closet like this right in the door. I took the bi-fold doors off and built a bench that ran the length of the closet supported around the perimeter and with 2 support pieces beneath, which created the three openings. Rather than drawers, I bought three matching bins that slide in and out. I hung "wainscotting" inside the closet and mounted the hooks to that. I also made a cushion for the seat..and have a light hanging from above.
As for function: there are three of us now, and it functions quite well, even in the winter. Each of us has a shoe bin, there is a basket on one end of the bench for hats, gloves, leash, etc...and we keep our coats much tidier. Since it is out in the open, we keep it neat, which is much better than throwing our stuff in the closet and shutting the door. We now have a spot to sit to put on our shoes. Plus, it made the entryway feel much more spacious.

I usually make all butter crusts, but tried the 3/4 butter with 1/4 shortening combo recently and it was great. I think I will be using this method from now on.

You could buy a longer upholstered storage bench and then you have extra seating and toy storage as well.

I second the clip rings and think that it is an even cleaner look with much less work.

I would do three custom roman shades in a fabric of your choice. You would lose a bit of the arched top though.
Or you might be able to mount a rod, without finials that go right to the walls on either side, just above the center trim. It looks like the edges of long curtain panels might just hit the edge of the trim then. Good luck!

You could install small strips of wood around the perimeter of the nook, then lay the shelf on top. Paint the strips to match the wall and they will fade away.

It would be cute painted white and I don't think it would change the integrity of the handmade piece. The stencil idea could be really cute too, but I would strip and reseal the finish first to tone down the high-gloss. You could also cut a rectangle of wood to fit the back piece and paint it with chalkboard paint to create a unique drawing surface, but that would not be necessary to make this piece fit nicely into your home.

this is a great idea & probably one you could diy with some basic sewing skills in any fabric you desire. The contrasting piping seems to be key in accomplishing the look.

This is so cute! I also had the thought that you could cut out some of the work, by building it into a corner of a room, which would mean you would only need one wall panel and one side of the roof. Still very cute, but would be more stable possibly and less work.

I think this look is ridiculous. Unless you run a catering business from home, I think the extra space could find a better function.

this is cool..i would paint it all out in white though and remove the towel bars. Instead mount a double hook under each set of windows to hang towels if necessary. I wouldn't mess with the windows...they are quirky for sure. It looks like a fresh coat of white paint over everything (ceiling, walls, etc) would brighten it up and update all acessories (toilet paper holder, mirror, lighting, etc) It looks like a very unique space though with great potential!
Good luck!

I would remove the top and then build the sides and back up to create an open shelf you can access from the front of the piece...you could have a cabinet maker do this to make it look fairly seamless and match the stain exactly. Then just add the old top back on, or do another countertop surface.
