When I was confined in the hospital for a week, I was lucky to have my bed beside the window. I didn't have books or an mp3 player with me by that time, but the window provided entertainment. My mom, who was always with me during my confinement, used to play guessing games with me about what they're thinking, or supposed to be doing. It did help pass the time and I bonded with my mom at the same time.

I saw in the IKEA 2012 catalogue about some drapes over the ceiling. Maybe you'd like to consider that.

My mom used to plant some anti-mosquito plants on pots, and place them around near windows and entrances. I forgot the name of that specific plant she used to grow, but I found a link in the internet:

When an officemate moved near where I lived, she usually cooks and gives me the leftovers. When she had a big tear on her jeans, I volunteered to patch it up because she doesn't know how to sew.

It's nice to have neighbors look out for each other.
