I would like more people to spread their wings and do what they like just as I will not do the 80's or 90's this time around either even if my house burns to the ground.

I love the freedom of the new thinking of reusing and re-purposing things and hope no one gets trapped in the old formulaic ways of decorating. You still see a lot of same ol' same ol' in kitchen design but the imagination so many of the tours on AT are so refreshing as opposed to what you see elsewhere.

When I saw the buffet I thought they'd done the veneer work themselves so, yes, DIY time for sure!

Three of the photos seem to indicate a bad paint job without primer but stained first if you want a dark base and a scraper or two should do the job to those standards. You can dirty it up with a lighter stain afterwards and seal. Wax works well.

Just google duplicate worn paint surfaces or duplicate worn paint wood and you're spoiled for choice.

Have fun, be patient and you'll be impressed with yourself.

Coolest possible shower or a cool bath before bed, wet hair pinned up and linen sheets. Sleep naked. I love the fans, hate air conditioning but sometimes you just have to give in during the day when the humidity gets up around 100% for days on end.

Cover the windows during the day, I know someone who won't but complains constantly about the heat. le sigh

Love the coffee popsicle idea, so going to do that!

No one has mentioned that oily rags should not be kept. If you can spread them out outside do that until they dry or submerse them in a jar of water.

Finishing oils combust and are the oily rags you may have read that should never be stored in your basement.

Have you thought about taking the chairs to be reglued? Cheaper than buying replacements of the same quality and beauty, if, as you say, you can even find them.

Beautiful home, I love black houses.

I avoid color except for art and the exterior doors, life is complicated, I'm visual and they're calming, but very tempting kitchen. So very fresh and exciting!
