My mom's chicken and dumplings will always make me feel better. Chow mein (made by my sister's mother-in-law) has become a comfort food in recent years. So either way I think I crave that motherly touch when I'm sick.

The first thing I thought of was my ikea coffee table. Good to hear it went well!

Well that's a neat trick. Even though I generally prefer to let my butter sit out to soften, my sister's microwave has a button for softening butter and cream cheese. It does the trick in a pinch.

Personally, my favorite Thanksgiving appetizer is the turkey skin I sneak off the fried turkey before the meal starts.

We do a cornbread dressing, and this year I'm going to learn how to make it from my grandmother. I know there's cornbread, sage, and giblets involved, but no one else knows how to make it. Time to learn!

I'm making a Pawley's Pie (similar to derby pie) that may or may not make it to a family reunion on Sunday and pumpkin spice affogato. If I get to it this weekend, I might even go ahead and make chocolate syrup and salted caramel to have handy.

We finish our collards off with a dash of hot pepper vinegar. I might just have to make a mess of collards and cornbread now!

I would give my right arm for a lobster roll right now. I'm also partial to a good shrimp or oyster po' boy.

I've got to have Duke's. It's the only mayo I'll use to make pimento cheese, and it makes a great chocolate cake.

I might've gone through a brief phase of wanting crustless bread, but it definitely didn't last. My grandfather also proclaimed the crust as the best part, and I'm sure I wanted to emulate him.

I've toasted oats and blended them a little before adding to a smoothie. I'm digging the Spiced Oatmeal smoothie.

The little town I grew up in got its start in the 1600s as a rice producer. Rice is definitely an important part of most meals in the South. I, personally, like to have some sort of bread with my meals.

We had a week at my elementary school called International Week. Each grade was assigned a country to learn about, and each class did a presentation on a certain aspect of the country. When I was in 2nd grade our country was France and we did a cheese tasting. I had my first bite of blue cheese and promptly gagged and had to drink a bunch of water. I couldn't stand blue cheese until just a couple of years ago.

I love me some coconut milk ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant, but I just pop some Lactaid pills when I want to eat ice cream. And yogurt doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on me, so frozen yogurt is also a completely tasty option for me.
