Thank you all for your comments! Here are some answers and comments of my own:

1. shower curtain is from Bed bath and Beyond.
2. the house exceeds CA's Title 24 energy code without using insulated glass (this would have made for ugly corner joints and reduced transparency); it is zoned climatically on three levels and relies on abundant natural ventilation, thermal mass and the mild beach climate for comfort.
3. the master bedroom floor is stained OSB.
4. the artists are Toshio Shibata from Japan, our fist client Wim Wenders and Judy Stabile, c. 1969 for the family photos of my parents for their album cover.
5. nevermind the Jasper Morrison coffee maker--what about the toaster-from-hell? we bought them as a set and had the toaster repaired twice. It's now in the closet with the cat box. Shame on you Rowenta!
6. I agree that OSB has been used a lot. My husband/partner, a French architect, convinced me to use it after we made samples sanded and clear-sealed. It's all about the texture, and that's what's different here from typical installations.
