Decorate them: paint on them as stained glass with glass paint, or if you want something less permanent - paper cutouts! AT has had some beautiful paper window decorating posts in the past

One of my favourite air freshening combinations is spearmint with sandalwood oil. Seems to make everything smell nicer.

Work with the greys you have - the orange counters are lovely. Backsplash in grey or even BLACK?

My favourite sound to fall asleep to is a party - where there are lots of people talking, music in the background. I used to go to a ski lodge in winter, and the room we always got was right off the lounge room. I loved the feeling of being physiciallly exhausted, plopping into bed early to listen to the other guests natter away into the night.
Best. White. Noise. Ever.

(OK maybe not...maybe ocean, or babbling brook, or campfire. But pretty darn lovely)

May be I need one for my husband. I can sleep through anything and love quietness when it arrives. My husband, on the other hand, can lie listening to a storm and keep waking going "what's that?" to a repetitive creak or a tap amid the noise.

Having said that, if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, I do get up and lie on the couch with the TV sound too low to actually hear. Seems to work - so imagine these things are great

I have never lived alone, but it sounds wonderful! I loved travelling alone, and that had the same sense of freedom (though limited chances to develop quirks like eating PB naked)

I still have my original iPad 1. I love it. Still. I loved mine so much I made a ton of iPad covers, kept some and gave the rest away to new iPad owners.

It is fabulous for reading. Fabulous for writing. Not bad at all for drawing.

I LIKE the fact that I don't have millions of screens open at once.
The Apps are fun - stick to the free ones to begin with, and read reviews (outside the App Store) before buying.

And ENJOY

Cold Mountain read by the author, Charles Frazier. A little, meditative voice.
Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry. Hilarious and just right
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro read by Nigel Hawthorne - the right amount of pompous - found it hard to begin with but was absolutely the personality to fit the story

I have listened to tons of audiobooks and really look forward to trying some of the recommendations listed. There's so much to listen to!

Personally I think minimalist posters are things that adults like and they are not very kid friendly at all. Who are you decorating for?

I have two - both because I was being stingy. One was a fabulous French sofa that needed refurb. Found it on eBay, and bid and bid for it. Gave myself a limit. When I lost out, I decided that limit was ridiculous. I did the same thing bidding for a beautiful deco upright piano once. I regret both. Sometimes you just have to put the cash down.

Love it. Betty White is living the most extraordinary version of "old age"! May we all take note.
