I grew up in a house on a corner lot and it was great because the bus stop was right there and you didn't have to drive down a long alley to get to your garage (it also felt safer to have an exposed garage). On the downside, one night some teenagers drove their car down our side lawn (no trees).

I like to make them into a sweet mung bean soup as mentioned above. I also add tapioca pearls (that's how my grandmother would make it for me when I was growing up).

Oops - forget what I said above. I didn't look at the plans - I thought this was one of those doors with a pivot hinge more towards the middle.

When you look at the clearance when the door is open and the path of the door swing, you will see that it is no different than a normal door in terms of space being taken up. In fact, this door takes up more space because it goes in the opposite direction too. But if you want a really big looking door, I suppose this is the answer.

5.5'x7'. On the plus side, I can stand in one spot and do anything from it.

The Madeline Weinrib rug looks like another I saw on the ABC site just a few days back:

They are almost the same except the one on the ABC site has black "fans" and is 5'x8' and asking $299.

If I had a red brick house with black shutters that matched my neighbor's, I wouldn't go to the trouble of painting my bricks. I would just paint my shutters and trim.

Or paint the wall the same color as the bicycle.

I knew a chef from Naples, and he would say that a fish never sees a cow and vice versa, so why would you put the two together?

I think red would be nice. Or red and white stripes.

I remember buying this issue in Canada a few years ago. I hung onto it for a while - not sure if I still have it.

I went to a Texas public school and remember eating in elementary school things like Frito Pie, Salisbury Steak, Pizza (rectangular slice to fit the tray compartment), Taco Salad, Burger, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and Churros (the long fluted tubes like what they sell in NYC subway stations with ). And there was an ice cream cart - drumsticks and push ups were the most popular. Ice cream was $.25 and only the spoiled kids had parents who gave them money for that.

It looks a little like the stairwell in the new museum on the Bowery. But I've only been there once, so maybe me memory is a bit fuzzy.

I think a round table would be best - center it more in the space rather than close to the window. I think having a generous traffic space around the table without having to duck under the sloped ceiling makes a big difference. I would keep that small white desk in that nook, but perhaps have it so when you are sitting at it you face the sloping ceiling. Lastly, warm up the space with fabric curtains at the window, cushions, an area rug, etc.

Given the light fixture on the left in the photo, I would forgo a shower curtain rod (the light would be in the way.) The next inexpensive solution would be a hospital curtain track, but it looks as though it would stop short of the foot of the tub because of the ceiling change. The best solution (especially if you get any kind of natural light through the window - I would expect you do assuming you are on the top floor) would be a glass panel as bepsf describes.

I'd orient the settee so it faces a short end of the table if that doesn't look too off balance.

I have an equally tiny kitchen and the same Williams-Sonoma green and yellow dishcloth currently hanging in it right now.

I actually like this house. It looks cozy, inviting, and unlike many interiors I see on AT, I feel the person who lives in this space has a sense of humor and isn't pretentious.
