There also is a blog with really good tips on what to do while you're there.

I had some problems with my cat using the sofa as a scratching post for a while. But the sofa has quite a structured, sturdy fabric, so there is really no visible damage. Also, as it has a slipcover, this can be washed or exchanged if anything major should ever happen to it (or if I grow tired of the design). I would not recommend to choose anything with a fine weave, as snags would definitely show.

We have a white IKEA Malm chest with three drawers on each side of the bed. It is just the right height to use as side table for our bed, has nice clean lines and it's amazing how much stuff you can hide in it!

Ooh, definitely NAY, NAY, NAY! I lived with a tiny fridge for 5 years before I finally got a bigger one last summer. The difference it makes not to have to crouch down to retrieve food and to be able to store food for even just a 4-people dinner party is near live-changing!

What a cosy kitchen. And well done on choosing white, it brightens the room up so much. And it looks perfect with the green cabinets on top. I love how much storage you have!

Unfortunately, I don't have a tip for cleaning, but everytime I gaze at mine, I wonder about it, too! I would not want to have to take it off the fixing!

So lovely! It always saddens me when people have balconies and don't use them, so well done! But the bird looks to me a bit more like a thrush than a starling.... :o)

I use Lock'nLock containers. They come in all shapes and sizes and are brilliantly air-and-liquid-tight.

I made Jeni's mint ice cream from the Food & Wine article a few days back. It was absolutely lush! I made it with single cream instead of heavy, and it was still wonderfully creamy. I wish I lived near her shop, though!

Ha-ha! This made me chuckle. I think with me, I keep one tidy room in an otherwise messy house! I try and keep the bedroom serene...

Slice of rustic bread, toasted and slightly buttered, sliced tomato on top, and on top of that some fresh chives.

I actually soak my skewers to make it easier to get the skewees off them after grilling. The water prevents the veg or meat juices from bonding with the wood and everything will slide off nicely.

What a lovely house! Great job on the fireplace, the garden looks amazing, and I love the green wall with the paintings in the kitchen! This gives me hope. The description of how the house first looked sounds very familiar. We've been in our 1920s terrace a year now and can't even dream of arranging furniture or hanging pictures yet, as we still need to put in a new floor after all the stripping, re-plastering and painting that's already been done. But if our house will look anywhere close to this in another six years, all the pain of DIY will have been worth it!

I LURRRRRVE the yawning cat! I like the style this house has been photographed in, but I agree that it does not give a good overview of the actual living space.
