Where Can I Find Non-Fluffy Towels?? Good Questions
9/18/12 9:40 AM

Never crossed my radar screen until...years ago, my then-8-year old son split his head open on the terrazzo floor and his older brother immediately went to the linen closet and pulled out a dark brown towel (we had no red ones). He handed it to me and said, "I think it's probably better if he doesn't see so much of his own blood."

I'm looking at this from a "mature" viewpoint, as someone who has had several "grown-up houses." For many people -- especially in these uncertain economic times -- your "stuff" can really weigh you down. I recently had to relocate for a job...in a more expensive area where I have considerably less living space. I consider myself fortunate that my older son and his fiancee were thrilled to move into my "grown-up" house with my "grown-up" possessions, and I was pretty much free to go. I now live with a lot of IKEA, my books, my ginormous collection of old costume jewelry, the rosewood dining table that was my first "grown-up" piece of furniture, and my mother's dining room chairs. It's a "grown-up" rented condo...because a grown-up lives there.

Yes, agree that larger spaces lead to more clutter. Left 3 bedroom house in FL to work in DC area for the time being, where I rent 1 bedroom condo. Very easy to keep it pristine, whereas my FL house is full of...stuff.

Another suggestion -- go to a thrift store and look for an old skool record player and some records. My youngest son loved his typewriter and his record player better than anything else we ever bought for him.
