Oh, I would never entertain inside with a wonderful space like that! Nice use of space for different seasons and time of day. Nicely done!

I grew up in the suburbs...and I couldn't wait to get to the city even as a child. Although we don't really have public transportation in SoCal, we do have tons of shows, concerts, ethinc dining, small specialty shops (vs. big box) that make living in the city so much more enjoyable than being standed in McMansionville.

It's not for everyone, and I might change my tune and cut and run when I have kids, but for now I can't imagine living anywhere but the city.

Outdoor moviews are one of the best parts about living in SoCal. What I wouldn't give to be able to enjoy these from the comfort of my own backyard. Ah to dream...

I have never been a "oh no, not the wood!!11!!!" person, but this broke my heart.

Paint can be removed if someone wanted to bring this BEAUTIFUL piece back to its original glory...but pounding in 1300 upholstery nails destroys any chance of salvaging this.

There is not enough wood putty in the world to repair this.

In the end, they did a really lovely job and the detail is amazing. It's just a bit of a shame to destroy such a lovely piece in the process.

I just have to say that I am outraged - OUTRAGED - to have you group my beloved West Hollywood with that sketchy, meth-ridden Hollywood. There are no similarities whatsoever. Where Hollywood is filled with tourists and addled drug addicts, West Hollywood is clean, safe and filled with activities and the best restaurants in town.

Good Lord, next we'll be comparing Nob Hill to the Tenderloin...

In Kate's comments she wrote, "We want to finish the stairs — we're planning on refinishing to match the stain on the outer edge, and ADDING A CABLE RAIL." The stairs are still a work in progress, and I think it's pretty exceptional what they were able to accomplish in such a short time.

I love that they left the original brick unpainted and made the place feel so much warmer and dwelcoming. Wonderful work!
