If the skins don't slip off easily, I use a spoon to scrape the skin off. Safer than a knife, especially if you oil your hands, which I don't...I kind of like the beet carnage :) What's the Best Way to Peel Beets? Ingredient Questions |

I just had this issue today! Pine sap on my winter jacket (must be nylon...down jacket). I was able to treat it within a few hours, so it wasn't dried on. A cotton swab drenched with rubbing alcohol took it right off, no extra washing needed. DIY Cleaning: 3 Household Items That Remove Tree Sap |

I use my food processor to puree a bunch of ginger. I freeze in dollops and store in a bag. Great for quick ginger for stirfries etc. I used to freeze in one big chunk but it's really hard to break off pieces (gets pretty sharp edges) so I switched methods. Wait, You Can Freeze That? Burritos? A package of tortillas will last unrefrigerated. A can or two of beans, mini bottle of hot sauce, avocado (can get unripe to last a few days), cheese, peppers. I've never had this, but isn't there rice that you can make with just hot water in a few minutes? That, combined with nori, seasoned tofu, avocado would work. Cans of tuna can be eaten without seasoning (though could bring s+p, oil, lemon). Help! I Need Meal Ideas for a 4-Day Train Trip! Good Questions |

I have started putting some frozen berries in a bowl or jar with some plain yogurt in the fridge overnight. By morning, the berries are perfectly thawed and are sweet enough for the plain yogurt without extra sugar. Sometimes I had a tiny bit of granola for crunch. Really delicious, plus you have a serving or two of fruit, antioxidants, calcium, protein, etc! 10 Make-Ahead Breakfasts to Start Your Day Off Right |

Someone recently posted on thekitchn about how their dishwasher started a fire while it was running at night. Since hearing that, I've lived in fear of running it at night! The apartment I recently lived in had no second exit, and the dishwasher was right by the sole exit, so I only ran it while we were awake or gone. 3 Reasons To Run Your Dishwasher At Night |

My mom uses the bialetti muka express ever day and they turn out really good lattes (or cappuccinos?). The only thing I don't love about it is it's not the easiest to clean. Too hot to clean right away, but gets gross if you let it sit too long. What's the Best Way to Make a Latte at Home? Good Questions |

TJ's has incredible frozen artichoke tortellini (haven't tried the ravioli). That used to be my favorite "bachelor" meal, with lots of (frozen) spinach, olive oil, s+p, sometimes a frozen pre-cooked sausage thrown into the pasta cooking water. Easy Pantry Dinners: 5 Meals with Frozen Ravioli |
