Yep - I've been in a hot air balloon. It's much more peaceful than I'd imagined.

That cotton balloon reminds me of a balloon mobile in my paediatrician's office from when I was a child. It's a memory that was only brought back just now, how nice!

Love the bright, contrasting colours all over the place. LOVE the bookcase!

I took that tour! The rest apartment is gorgeous too - the building design allows for a lot of natural light in each apartment.

I wonder if I wasn't the only person to ignore the other tourists and pretend I lived there?

I like the Yankee Candle car air fresheners - the crisp linen one in particular. It's an inexpensive way to cover up dog smell in the car in between rug shampoos! And now the smell reminds me of road trips and summer days. I love it.

I scored an 8 myself. Time to send this link to my husband to prove I know what sofa colour would match our living room the best.

Wow, what a beautiful home. I can't wait to see more.
Oh and also I'm jealous of the family moving in...those children - the memories they'll have! Sounds like a great home to play hide and seek, have friends over, etc.

I love it! The colours you used are great.

I bet I could figure out how to put it together, too...doesn't look like it would be that complicated.

This looks so promising for my own kitchen. My cabinets appear the same drab and dark colour as the ones in the before photo. I feel like I can actually do something nice to my kitchen now! I'm showing this after shot to my husband this weekend...time to go reno shopping!

Great job, I think it looks amazing. Makes you want to spend time in there rather than going on to get what you need & dashing back out again.

I love the idea of turning a bookcase into a small wardrobe. It's just the perfect size and will work well and look fantastic if you decide to use it as a bookcase again.

Also - it's wonderful to see so many books in a baby's room. It's like a comfortable adult reading nook/nursery. Great feel.

I've always found Straberry Swing to be a very relaxing song. People commenting here are so uptight sometimes. Give the songs a listen and then post your opinion!

Yes. If I'm at a close friend or family member's home, they'll usually yell at me from the bathroom or wherever they are in the house that they can't reach the phone and could I please answer it for them. That's fine. Cell phones? No.

What I don't understand is why the MIT student would be wearing dirty shoes in the bathroom (and then creating muddy tracks if the floor was wet). Why do people wear shoes in their homes? Especially the bathrooms??

These are all great tips for people who are moving into their first home and need quick/easy/affordable ways to make the place feel like their own. I've been in my home for over a year and have yet to take down the ugly white blinds because I haven't decided what I want to replace then with "permanently". This has given me the push to just get rid of them once and for all! Any replacement would be an upgrade.
