Save yourself the aggravation of having to take it all down in a half a doz years or so when water gets between the tile and the board and creates problems and just take down the tile on the wall now. Putting in wallboard (get the special drywall for bathrooms) is really easy and then applying the pvc beadboard or wainscoting is super easy - a glue job. Can I Install Wainscoting Over Tile? This is going to sound egregious but I had 6? maybe 8? CPKs (plus one of those weird hybrid animal kids they came out with - mine was half dog half kid). BUT its a good story. We were totally super dirt poor farmers (my mom was already working an extra job as the cook for the Priests at the catholic school they sent me to to cover my tuition) and for the holidays every year so they could buy presents and have a big christmas dinner my mom got a seasonal job on the ASSEMBLY LINE for Coleco who made... CABBAGE PATCH KIDS! The only perk to the overnight shifts (before she came home to work on the cows at 5am) was that each year she got to buy (at cost) a CPK. So I don't remember their names but I remember all the girls who laughed at my hand-me down clothes looking on in amazement when I brought out my parade of Cabbage Patch dolls - blonde, brunette, premie - boy and girls. I had them all... :) The Original Cabbage Patch Kids (and Other Christmas Morning Disappointments) |

I do this with my students (I teach theatre) and after dress rehearsals, performances etc - if we find a shoe or a belt or, heaven help them, a prop that is just left around they have to buy it back for a buck. All the money goes to the cast party. It takes just about two kids a year to leave stuff out and then everyone realizes I'm not joking and they will really have to come up with a dollar... magically everything gets hung up and put away... I would say (as a landlord who demanded a Sept 1 lease) that a good way to get a deal is to post an apt wanted in addition to looking on craigslist. I know someone already said it - but I really want to suggest it to you. When our month-to-month tenant gave us less than 30 days notice (which was required by her lease) we were able to fill the apt in 4 HOURS on craigslist for a sublet til Jan 1. And then when I posted it from Jan 1 to Sept 1 (at a 250 a month increase on the sublet so we were closer to market) a few weeks later after we decided we weren't selling it, I filled it in less than 24 hours. The rental market in town itself (we are in Fenway) is brutal. Post a wanted and hunt the craigslists ads and you will find something. Paying a realtor is not needed if you are willing to deal directly with small landlords who only own one or two properties and who get shafted by students all the time... Every other day - planned out according to my days with big meetings etc. And I hate to admit it - but the highchair (once he was old enough after the bouncy seat in the bathroom was no longer an option) in front of a custom made 16 min sesame street youtube playlist not only got me showered but my kid knows his ABCs (six different songs) counts from 1-20 and can talk about octagons and friendships. So as far as TV goes I feel a little less guilty and its really important to be clean on big client meeting days! How's a New Mom Supposed to Get a Shower? |
