I love natural stone but it is a bad idea for a shower. It would be a nightmare to clean soap scum and hard water off of. Super high maintainence. Uhgggg :(

January. Just how much do you think that a hypothetical Indonesian stone sorter would earn if he/she wasn't sorting stones? I think you really need to study up on the relationship between poverty and jobs.

I love wall coverings. Most wall paper is bad. But when you get to wall coverings with texture. hmmm hmmm hmmmmmm... This is the spice of walls.

I have a Sharp Insight Range that I like a lot. It has a microwave, oven, cooktop combined into one. They are sort of spendy new. 2000 I got mine cheaper with dents on the sides. it is not noticable when in place.

also keeping it neatly trimmed around the sidewalk would have helped. The overgrowth on the sidewalk made it unsightly.

I am currently putting one of these floors in. It looks nice and is easy to install. So far I have noticed the vinyl smell when the windows are closed. I think the new vinyl smell will go away soon. Another thing I noticed was the feet of my very heavy granite dining table made impressions in it. I will have to get little coasters for them. My couch has not made impressions in it.

Yep, apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap works wonders.

It made me laugh when I read 30 days in Brazil. This is not the case of the Brazil I know. High unemployment and a large percentage of people that work under the table make a 30 day vacation a dream that only the priveliged can enjoy.

My friend works for a soundproofing company and took some green glue to the lab to test it because green glue was making claims that it was better than their system. They found that green glue didn't hold up to its claims.

What others have said it is isolation and adding mass that helps. In the instance of green glue it is more the extra mass of the extra layer of sheet rock that is deadening the noise.

silicone glue does the same thing green glue does and it is much much cheaper.

Non toxic? Have them drink a glass of their solution in front of you.

Non toxic, eco friendly, and green are all just new marketing buzz words. People hear them and they assume they are good.

You can actually clean carpet quite well with pure water. Water is the most common solvent around. The trick is to get the water hot enough so that the atoms are really moving fast enough to release the unwanted atoms.

You can get very good results using heated water and a rotary extraction unit.

Yes they work. A traditional cloth will leave lint. microfiber doesn't. You can clean a mirror with just plain tap water.

back to the original subject of AC. It's better to think of an AC as a heat pump. It pumps heat from one area to another. Most ACs pump heat from the inside to the outside making it cool inside. Putting unit that is not pumping the heat somewhere else will actually heat the area. Some people erronously think that opening a fridge door will cool the kitchen. This is not true because the fridge is pumping warm air around in the kitchen and at the same time wasting energy and creating more heat.

I am assuming you are in the same structure as your neighbor. The trick to soundproofing is adding mass, absobsion, and isolation. The basic idea is it is harder for sound waves to move through a heavy cement wall than it is to move through a wall with drywall and 2 by fours. A heavy wall will transmitt less sound. The easiest way to deaden the sound through a wall is to use silicon glue (for isolation and absorbsion) to glue the thickest sheetrock you can find to the wall. Commercial buildings use 2 layers of 1" thick sheetrock on both sides.
Completly cutting out the sound is not pratical but cutting it down by 50-70% is possible.
The paint is just a marketing gimick. It has neither mass nor isolation.Green glue is another gimmick to stay away from.
