I love the leopard gecko. The idea of an open laptop as a perch kind of frightens me, but I'm sure you've planned for the mess should it occur.

I use a file cabinet. Although it's practical, I'd prefer the drum pictured above.

Agreed. The tour is beautiful, but the name is nauseating.

Ah, I knew that the cat's name was something odd. I wish it was Better Midler and not just wishful thinking. Watching Better Midler or channeling her through design is also an understandable interpretation. I've occasionally skimmed her blog and could only remember that the cat's name began with a B. Sorry for being dumb!

Wait, is Emily Henderson's black cat actually named Better Midler? That's kind of awesome. I have an all black male stray cat that I've been fostering who I named Richard Nixon. Pictures are here if anyone wants to adopt him! Kitsch-love.tumblr.com

There are a lot of clocks for one room. The tic-toc-ing might drive me mad.

It feels like a hip hotel room. I like this entry, overall.

At the end of every week, I cook dinner with my favorite male friend in the kitchen. We never fight, and there is no tension in the kitchen, We're both really easy going, but I think there are few things that make it work. One, we don't care too much about the result although we taste test throughout. Cooking is more fun when it's an experiment. Two, we always sip on a beer or a glass of wine. Three, we both like to be creative and have fun; we have back up frozen pizza just in case! While eating, we do critique the dish, but there aren't any egos. I just want to become a better cook!

I definitely like the added molding, but the sconce placement would he better on a wall. All of the furnishings (both in the before and after shots) are gorgeous.

I would turn the television screen into a mirror. If that's too lame for you, then maybe you would consider an aquarium or terrarium? Any painting or picture would also work, but I especially like dioramas. Lovely home! :)

I'm suffering from secret room envy, but I wonder about the practicality of a bookcase door. It could possibly be very heavy, and I would most likely knock objects off/over every... single... time.

The paint by number looking tree and the wall hanging are my favorites, but I don't think I'd be able to give up having a live tree and putting up all of my vintage glass ornaments (although I do love a good DIY project)!

I love that birds of paradise flower arrangement. The blue in the otherwise white bathroom makes it look clean and fresh when older bathrooms tend to look dingy. Also, the layered curtains behind the bed are a nice touch. I'm taking notes :)

I'd cover the walls with floor to ceiling curtains. This can look really glamorous if done right. You might have to do a bit of searching to keep it within your budget, but, to me, it would be worth it.

I'd paint the walls a burnt orange and do a a grey solid or grey/orange/blue (any coordinating combination) patterned rug. I'd just go for it. Bold is better than boring. You can always repaint. Pillows and curtains are more opportunities to introduce color, pattern, and texture. Have fun!

I love browsing bookstores with a coffee in hand. I can check if a book is available at my local library through their online catalogue.

If a book isn't available through the library system, then I pick up a used copy, if possible. Sometimes I donate the book to the library after I have read it. I also like to lend good reads out to friends.

Books are meant to be shared! :)
