Re the bits of carpet, you can buy these stair treads for $10 at Home Depot, and then affix them with carpet tape (http://www.amazon.com/Intertape-9970-Indoor-1-87-Inches-36-Yards/dp/B000I1EHK0). Before & After: Kelly's Staircase Remodel on a Budget |

Swatters 42 - the grill is a great idea, as long as there's nothing next to this furniture that would block air flow. Until you get it installed, though, I wouldn't play the Xbox with the drawers closed. It will overheat and shut down in a matter of hours. That's a lovely batik. Depending on the size I think that would look really great framed. If you keep the frame modern (I think something sleek and metal) it won't look hippy-dippy. I like Ikea, but I wouldn't pick it over something that would last, as long as it isn't hideous. Seconding the suggestion that you refinish the quality table in a color you like better, and get some modern chairs. Quality or Style: When Compromise is Necessary, Which One Wins? |

I agree it has an appealing wood pallet look and I definitely wouldn't paint the whole thing gloss white - it's incongruous to the style. Gray stain like the Anthropologie dresser is my vote. Take This Dresser from Fug to Fab? Good Questions |

Hey - that thing you have necklaces hanging from near your desk... I have that thing! I think I got it at Ross. Never would have thought to use it as a jewelry organizer but it's sure cute!
