When I saw the picture the main picture of you two, I thought... hey... something's familiar... those dots... that dresser... that chair... and then as I flipped through the pictures I realised I'd seen your blog! Wow, you've really done a lot of work from when you started until now. Absolutely fabulous! If you don't feel like painting the cabinets, I think HeyJoanne's idea of just taking the doors off to make open shelves is a good idea. You could even do all the upper cabinets if you liked the look. I think painting the red walls a light colour like white would be good, but I think I'd stay away from going too beige because I think it would combine with the cabinet colour to look drab. New hardware alone would significantly improve things. If you don't want to spend the money, you could paint the original hardware with a metallic paint. I think if you did decide to paint the cabinets white though, the original hardware as it is now could actually look good. Good luck! Ways To Update Original '50s Kitchen in Rental (on My Dime)? I think it would depend very much on the decor of the room as a whole. I think they look good in the picture shown; I think the neon ones that were suggested would also be a nice way to temporarily try out that look in case you don't like it next year (or any other trend of that sort); and I think if you were trying to rock the granny look, these would be an absolute must. Having said all that, I live in Japan and have full access to these socks in many colours, but I chose to use the felt pads... ( - _ -)o0 Weigh In: Should Chairs Wear Socks?
