The New York Times Style section ran a piece about how the Obamas are keeping religion out of the holiday decorations to keep it more inclusive. I'm glad to see that in these decorations. It photographs well and is visually interesting. It is not a home, though, and is virtually impossible to live in as pictured. You can't dine on that dining room table and you can't write on that desk. And those beds that you have to deconstruct before getting in them always bug me. I put a drum shade on the chandelier in my living room, which I will eventually replace. The chandelier is an ugly 1950's black, "Ponderosa," type things that I took the bronze glass hurricane shades off, then covered the whole thing with the shade. Looks much better now.
