here in Puerto Rico that was made, as a competition. about 8 persons were put there, the rule was they could't talk to anyone. No tv, no newspaper, no internet. A woman won, she stayed there about 6 months alone, the prize was like $120,000 among other things. She kept to herself by smiling and waving at people, reading books she brought in, cleaning around and exercising. I think the bathroom was the only place where people couldn't see her, but she couldn't stay there for a long time. When she was released, she told the press she did it for her family.

When I was a child, I never understood why people were forbidden to sit in living rooms, that place was almost off-limits in every home. As a grown up I understand, but still, why spend time and money on living room furniture if it will not be used? Same with tableware. My mother has a china set and in 27years I have never seen it being used. Now it is stored in boxes, and once I wanted to use them for a family diner and she almost fainted after I proposed using it. Then why have such a luxury if it never will be used?!?! In my home nothing is off limits, thus we live in a small apartment. We watch tv in the living room, we use our good glass wine goblets, plates, tableware, etc. They're not the most expensive, but why let visitors only enjoy them?!

well, probably as time goes by you will get used to the smell of deep fry... until you bring some guests and they remind you of it...

good luck

I also like the color as-is. Maybe you could paint it a bit darker and paint the roof as your neighbors did, in a light-blue-gray-ish color. I would paint the trim the same colors as the roof. Cute house, good luck!

I forgot to mention, I understand your situation.I earned my degree (in architecture) taking a few classes at a time since being a full time student was not an option for me, in the mean time, I worked as a designer and learned from real jobs. It may be a long run, but it is worth it 100% to get a degree.

If school is not an option right now, keep learning from experience, read books and magazines, or maybe you could go to a design school and see what are they doing. But don't ever put aside getting a degree as a designer. While you may find you learn more working, on school you'll have the opportunity to explore your talents and receive critiques from professors and fellow students. Some may be tough, rude or not in your point of view, but receiving feedback in a learning environment will give you the opportunity to do whatever you want, without the constraints of a real job. Also getting a degree might be the right choice since it is a bit irresponsible, and not to mention disrespectful, to practice a design career without the proper qualifications, certifications and/or license.

It's very creative, the loft bed idea is better, but considering if the guy was in a very thight budget this is what he could do to solve his problem, and I guess he must be very proud of his creation.

Our cats will just poop on the first area of that maze, they will never make it to the litter area, they're just plain lazy. Or even worse, they will just do their business wherever they please if we ever use a litter like this one because they will not even bother reaching for it. Plus, we have a litter crisis at home where the oldest cat will not use the litter if any of the other 2 cats uses it, so now we have to clean 2 litters every day in order to please our majesty...

I had this experience in my childhood with the neighbors who lived behind our house, EVERYBODY in the neighborhood tried to do something about it, cops, priests, men, women, everyone tried, but it took to that lady to realize she was abused the day his husband stuck a gun up on her face. Sadly, most people in an abusive relationship are like drug addicts, until they realize they need help, there's little you can do to change that. Either you get them evicted or you move out.

PS
my previous landlord was heaven-sent. Whenever I had a problem he had this guy who was always on top of things and fixed everything the same day.

Apartment Therapy San Francisco | How Long Does Your Landlord Take to Fix Things?

It takes him to fix things, including the lawn maintenance (which is on the contract), a few days of holding the rent payment to get things done. We learned this the hard way, had to wait a few months before he cut the lawn, but we already paid for it, so for now on, no payment until the lawn is cut. And as for fixing other things, also learned the hard way, now we pay the job and then discount it from the rent if he doesn't get the job done on time.

I have a friend who not only wears one color, gray, but EVERYTHING she owns is gray, the dog is gray, her husband has gray hair, the car is gray, her laptop is gray, she has gray contact lenses... the only time I've seen her in other colors are on saturdays, but she uses only black and white... oh and only red lipstick on her makeup, the rest, yes, gray...

I think it needs insulation from the heat and preventing cool air loss, even if it has A/C it will get hot inside because of the constant sunlight and the cool air will get hot when it reaches the walls and ceiling. It needs also more windows for ventilation and sunlight, and a skylight. Storage is an issue, but there seems to be space enough for people to put some storage solutions around. The 6 people living in is tough, but I guess that is a personal choice. Maybe 8k$ is a lot, but maybe this is the faster and quikest way to solve these problems, besides repurposing a big object such as a container. And I guess is a better shelter than carboard or pallette houses, so I welcome this idea.
