I've been taking strays I like from the backyard and popping them in the front. Purple Heart can just be snipped and popped in the ground, which is probably why so many of my neighbors like to landscape with it.

I've had the good fortune of partaking in a homestyle Chinese meal complete with a whole fish in the center of the table. There was no fancy filleting going on...everyone just snatched pieces of the fish with their chopsticks and the hostess snatched the eye for herself. ;)

My grandmother's secret ingredient was Crisco. But I do like the flavor that lard lends to some foods, like pie crusts and refried beans.

I imagine it could be used in any recipes that call for golden syrup. Toffee sauces, bbq sauces, cakes...

I don't think it's the celiacs so much as all the folks piling onto the gluten-free trend that have no medical need for a specialized diet. I have no problems adjusting the food I make for someone with real intolerances or allergies.

Looks nice if you're a hardcore farmers market shopper. I just pick up a few things each week so smooshing isn't too much of an issue (and I usually shop for meat first, then eggs, then veg, then breads).

I actually have a few grocery store reusable bags with an extra pocket or two on them.

I don't have a scale, so I measure only by volume, but I'm meaning to get one. I'm determined to make real scones and I was burned by the last recipe that tried to translate weight to volume.

Any recommendations for a good scale?

Redbreast is my favorite Irish whiskey. I've been meaning to find a good Scotch to keep in the liquor cabinet.

Vodka - I stay local. Tito's is tasty but I usually grab Dripping Springs if I see it. Something about the local water is good for vodka here.

Gin - Hendrick's. I'm not allowed to buy anymore gin until I finish one of the two bottles I have.

Rum & Tequila - Not that much of a fan.

As for mixers, I love St. Germain and limoncello.

I didn't link it in the last thread, but this is my liquor cabinet:

It's solid pine with the exception of the back panel. Add one wine glass rack, a tray to corral the liquor bottles, and a flexible wine rack system, and it works out very nicely.

I've never been a big fan of tequila, but it sounds like I need to explore one or two of these recommendations. Wasn't too happy about the last from-scratch margaritas I mixed up with my dusty bottle of Jose Cuervo.

I have a cheap bottle of champagne I need to drink up. Sounds like I should give this a try... I wonder how easy it would be to make sugar cubes (never have a reason to buy these).

I keep mine in an IKEA linen cabinet turned liquor cabinet. All it took was installing a wine glass rack to the underside of a shelf. I can't keep my liquor out in the open as my cats would probably launch themselves right into it.

My pet peeve are those massive plastic shopping carts that are 2 times the size of a regular grocery cart. They take up an entire aisle and the people pushing them can't control them when they're loaded with kids and groceries to feed the entire family. I've been rammed more times than I can count (as both a shopper and former cashier). I blame grocery stores for carrying them, not the parents forced to use them because their toddlers think they're awesome.

That Rosé is very good.

My favorite Spring to Summer wine is Casal Garcia Vinho Verde.

Is it necessary to make the post TJ's specific though? Just a list of budget-friendly, easy to find wines would be helpful to all of us.
