Beautiful room and colors! Where is the elephant fabric from? We are moving from an apt to a house and this is my new room inspiration for my son's room. Thanks for sharing!

So sorry - of course you are right! Your photos are much better and the trees show the setting of the home.

For those who are complaining about the size of the home, the shots that she has done are mostly of parts of rooms showing the details so I think it is completely relevent to this site, which I've been coming to on and off for 3 years.

We have looked at many very nice Charlotte homes (in considering as a purchase) and let me just say your design is a breath of fresh air. It is wonderful to see that you haven't let the traditional home dictate your style. You have a great eye for mixing beautiful things up - high end, low end, unique, chain store, traditional, modern. Just lovely! I may look for you when we find our house for some help!

This is a little creepy of me to have done this I know but let me preface by saying that I am moving to Charlotte and was thinking she might be a decorator I'd contact. Anyhow, I googled the owner of this home and oddly this is not the outside of her home, unless this Charlotte magazine has it wrong

Maybe photos got mixed up? That being said, the inside of the house is beautiful - fun yet elegant. I think there are lots of inexpensive items, finds that I would look at in consignment shops and not know what to do with which she makes look great. I think the outside of the house and garden in these links matches the inside of her house better than what is probably her actual house as pictured in the article.

We almost bought the Clark (I still long for it) but my husband said it was too deep (and it was pretty deep) for comfortable sitting. He's 6 feet so imagine for someone shorter. But it sure looks good!

We have in our living/dining room the Flos tin square in nickel finish. We used other sconces in our other rooms but these are our favorite - simple, clean lines, nice lighting shadow when on. http://www.ylighting.com/tinsquare.html

Great room. Space for kids toys without making it too cluttered and too childish is hard. Where are those low shelves and the plastic inert boxes from? Ikea?

We have the Liebherr (30 inch wide) for a family of four and have no problems with having enough space for food except when we buy ice cream cakes the freezer gets tight. We had to get the Liebherr b/c of depth issues. Love the Liebherr.

By the way, there are under the sink dishwashers (though they limit the depth of the sink) which may save you some valuable undercounter storage.

I think it would make the room feel smaller b/c it's so dark and large that it would be overhwelming. Also b/c it's all one unit it gives you less flexibility. I say go for separate pieces. I've found that I have great storage under our bed with regular bed bath and beyond storage under a room and board platform bed. I have one of those storage beds for my daughter and she only has a little more storage.

You used to be able to get it at Pottery Barn Kids and FAO Schwartz. They may still have it at FAO. I've seen it occasionally on ebay. I've thought about buying it but my kids rooms are small and I'm not sure I want the entire wall covered with it. Pricey - I think about 250. -mamamd

I just renovated my apartment - Gracious Homes has by far and away the most knobs to look at in Manhattan.

I noticed no full-time working moms so want to speak for this side. I have two toddler-age children, a husband who works long hours, and I have a full-time 35-hour a week job. We could afford for me not to work (we're not super wealthy by any means but we could manage), but I love my job and honestly gain a lot of intellectual stimulation and self fulfillment from it. I spend mornings with the kids, walk my oldest to preschool in the morning, I sneak out at least once to twice weekly for: doctors appointment, to pick up my daughter from ballet, etc, and am home in time for the evening routine. The keys for me are that I live a 5-minute walk away from where I work and that I do work when the kids are in bed. Also, we have a wonderful nanny who is often more patient and fun with the kids than I am and we have a healthy dose of grandparents around. As Hilary Rodham Clinton was titled, it takes a village and I think that with careful management, having others care for your children is natural and when well chosen a good thing. That being said, if we have a third child, I will want to cut back my hours and if I can't b/c my work won't allow it.....

A toy stroller is a great gift. I have a little boy and a little girl and I know a lot of men are against strollers for boys, but they love them and you can buy them in boy colors. It's great because as they are learning to walk they'll use it, and they'll use it for years to come to push it alongside mom or dad while walking to the park or push their animals in it when they get older. If you live in Manhattan, there's a store called Promises Fulfilled that can personalize it with their name on it (just permanent paint I think). They're not so expensive - at Promises Fulfilled they're around $20, more at FAO, less at some other stores.

Avanti has several options in the 24 inch range. Here's a link to the a stainless steel "pro-style" one as posted on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Avanti-ELBA-Pro-Style-Range/dp/B000J6E2KY

Also, if you're the fancy type, I think that the Vikings and Wolf-types all make a 24" "side range". I think it's really supposed to go along with the usual wide stove, but can be used singly though I bet it only has a few burners. Good luck!

I love the color combo so much I am thinking of using some of your ideas. May I ask where your blue chairs are from?

On Friday or Thursday I saw on the site a link for a great looking cell phone charging station - I went back to find the link and went through each thing one by one but for some reason can't find it, tried searching as well and can't find it - any tips for finding that link so I can untangle my wires fashionably?

I used to have a kitchen that was the entryway too and I think part of what makes this kitchen special is how it addresses this dual function - the layout welcomes, allows for easy entry and exit, and still works as a well-laid out kitchen. And of course it's beautiful - simple, classic.

I am planing my own renovation - please give me the info for your cabinetmaker!
