I think this is lovely, Minetta. Would you share the actual dimensions of your room?

Hmmm...and how would this work if you wanted to install a small dedicated (frost-free) freezer unit under the counter? Or small upright one at end of counter (next to wall, as someone suggested)? Would you have the same type venting restrictions/cautions? Anyone know?

I really love the pattern of the Anthropologie bedding. Would you please share its name? (I could not locate it on the website and would love to have a quilt/cover just like this).

"Jeez, people, maybe the chair was a gift...or they saved $10 a month for 50 months to buy it...or she or a friend works at Anthro and has a discount...or they eat ramen every day and splurge on chairs."

Bradley, your little house looks so very nice and very comfortable. I also really like your bookcase. Would you mind telling where did you find it?

I really like the way you've stored the lids to your pots and pans. I would definitely like to borrow this idea from you, but what, exactly, are you using as the storage "container'?

You've made this small room really come alive with a very sophisticated (IMO) combination of patterns and color. Using the window and window treatments as a focal point to emphasize the available natural lighting was quite clever, as it can be really difficult to make a room this size so visually appealing. My guess is that the room is ~10 x 12?
Good luck; hope you win!

Wow. I really, really like this...a lot.

Can you give details regarding your sofa/settee? Source? Fabric? Color? etc.

I really, really like this room; it just makes me feel really happy... :)

Really like what you've done in the kitchen with the shelves. Where did you find that breadbox? It really makes for a great pop of color (and so useful too)!

Wow! That sink in #2 is really fabulous and I could see myself splurging to go for it! That really speaks/appeals to me! Where is it from? Does anyone know the source?

I think this looks wonderful, especially the obvious care taken to personalize closet space!
As for the bed itself, although I would find that particular style/size overwhelming in my own much smaller space, I really, really like it in this space. Can anyone ID it for me? The bedside tables are compact and very neat-looking; I would love to consider having a pair of my own!

Thanks for the info about the sofa and desk, Organized (although I am really sad to hear that C&B no longer carries this item)! Do let me know if you ever get tired of yours!! :)

About the photo arrangement...random is good -- in fact, I think it an excellent choice here. What I mean is that the photo arrangement can be added to or subtracted from depending on your choice of (size/height) of whatever credenza/stand/console piece which will hold the TV and its placement along that wall.

Note that Alexis9 takes the whole idea a step further by having you consider the same arrangement but switching the sofa to the opposite wall (which will also complement random photo arrangements) and placing TV on different credenza/stand/console piece on (the now) sofa wall. I'm not so sure, however, that using the current TV stand as a side table will work with this placement, but if you want to reuse the stand this way in the room, I'd certainly try it with the sofa where it is now and see if it would work by turning the stand with its back to the sofa, making it convenient for additional storage for the work/study area. Although my instinct says that using the stand as a side table might work better on the right (shorter) side of the sofa.

But trust your instinct...and see what's most comfortable for you...after all...whose house is it anyway??? :)

I agree wholeheartedly with SherryBinNH that there is no law that says you can't have one room in your house with a different theme. IMO-this is a really cozy and comfortable room, and with a few small changes, a traditional/eclectic theme emerges that I really would love to have in my own home. Just place the chair at an angle in the corner where the TV stand now sits; replace the TV stand with a long(er) and lower console-type piece or media stand with the same type black finish centered against the wall (where the chair now sits) so that the TV itself doesn't overwhelm its stand and dominate the wall. You would have to make slight adjustments in the photo layout on that wall-- but the end result would be a more comfortable, relaxing room that highlights your traditional rug while allowing it to embrace your beautiful modern sofa and desk. Have a glass cut to fit the coffee table and display one or two glass pieces on it (to reflect light and color)-- and-- la viola!

And as for the desk, I really love it! Can you tell me where you got it? I would love to have one. And the same goes for your couch!

Good luck!

Well, I thought the most dramatic changes were in the Murray Hill and the Williamsburg apts. Adding splotches of dramatic color is what appealed to me.

Having said that, I was also impressed with the phonograph records storage solution already in place in Williamsburg apt. I have been looking for something just like this for my LP collection (of similar size) for the longest. Can anyone identify the source of this bookcase/bookshelf or for something similar?

Kristen,

I really loved your apartment! That said, it is so-soo-soo not me, and I liked it very much anyway! I’ll vote for you because I really think your place embodies what AT was/is originally intended to be about—sharing design ideas...and making our homes and spaces places we want to live in!!

If you recall a few days ago, a previous house visit to Clair (NYC loft with raised bedroom spaces) popped on the site, and I thought it was interesting that it garnered so much attention and so many negative comments from “ATers” regarding its design and probable cost. I also find it interesting that (in the spirit of AT) I am able to find ideas that I love in both your places, and can think about how to incorporate them into my own place! So much for budget!! I think we all design our homes according to our lives and how we want to live them—regardless of budget (because if it something is really important to your home lifestyle, then, somehow, you will probably spend minutes..hours... days... weeks, months...and yes, sometimes years! working out how to incorporate it into your life/home). So kudos to you for finding such a nice design sstyle for yourself and being brave enough to share its’ elements with us!

That said, FYI—my favorite element is the swing lamp over the couch in your LR. So (like anyone else here wondering), will share your source for it with us?

As well, I am wondering if you would share the dimensions of your studio with us; I am especially curious about the actual size of the alcove area, the height of the ceilings (what length are your curtains), and the size of the dining nook/foyer?

TIA, and good luck!! I hope we get to see more of your place in the future!
