I only have a set number of hangars. That way if I want to buy something new, I know I have to donate something else from my closet. This keeps me from having a closet overstuffed with things I don't wear!

I was invited to a child's party once where they said gifts were not required, but if we wanted to make a donation to toys for tots, they would have a bin available. It worked.

I have to disagree as well. My daughter was very colicy, so getting her to sleep was always an issue. Once we were in bed though, we stayed in bed together for 12 hours every night. She did wake up to eat every couple of hours, but after 5-10 minutes she was back to sleep. Eventually when she was sleeping through the night I always knew to go to bed by midnight because she'd be awake at precisely 8am.

I'm with you mermaidsd! A device that slowly wakes you up while your baby is screaming down the hall sounds horrible. And warm bottles if all that's needed is a diaper change too? Keep the baby close so you can respond quickly, if they never wake up completely, it's a lot easier to get them back to bed.

Breastfeeding and cosleeping with a newborn gave me the best sleep I've ever had in my life.

I buy my spices in bulk, and by having nice spice jars I can reuse, I'm actually using less packaging. I'm totally cool with the mismatched containers here though. What a fun idea, but I've got way too many spices for this.

I used to when I worked at home, but I discovered my posture was even worse with the ball and I switched back to a chair.

I basically go for the hot car wash look, with an apron and bandanna. Skimpy clothes and good music make cleaning so much more fun.

I love the bedspread as well; I wonder how dying one would work. I have a cream one in a similar style.

I tried popping popcorn on the stove last night for the first time, and it didn't end so well. I slowly stirred them in some olive oil, but when they started to pop, kernels were flying all over the kitchen. All of my lids were in the dishwasher, of course, so I removed the pan from the heat, but it was still hot enough that they kept popping. I covered it with a plate, but I have a feeling I'll be finding kernels and popcorn in random places for the next little while.

I wasn't impressed with the result either. I found it to be really tough, and not light and fluffy at all. I think I'll stick with my microwave for now.

I have open cabinets (no doors) and I have a stemware rack I made from moldings hanging in one cabinet. I like to hang them upside down so I don't have to dry them before I put them away. Also, I don't have dust settle inside them. I also put my bar stuff under them.

In another cabinet I put up a row of cup hooks up for my coffee mugs. I actually hang them above my plates, so they don't really take up any extra room. If I had more than 8 plates it wouldn't work, but I'm fine.

bepsf, I used to make the same type of ornaments with my grandma when I was a kid. I was so excited when I found a bag of them in her basement a few years ago. They're the perfect addition to my tree.

I'm doing pretty well at keeping up, but it's hard not to get too ahead of myself. I keep getting ideas for projects and jumping in instead of focusing on cleaning everything up instead. I just moved into my place on the first of October, so I have a lot to do, but a fresh pallet is a blessing.

As far as posting pictures goes, do we just post them on flickr and connect them to the group? I'm new at this, and I'd like some feedback on what I'm doing!

I put some fushia butcher paper on the back of my billy bookcases. Was cheap and easy, and it looks cool.

The closest store to my house is IKEA, so I'm there all the time. When I need to just be "alone" I go wander through the store and daydream about what I'll fill my apartment with once I'm divorced and I can decorate.

I love the place, but I don't buy much at a time, and I've never purchased anything big. I'm sure having an agenda would take some of the fun out of my trips.
