but that's not the only reason why i voted for this space.

Daniela's "Feels Big" Digs

I don't want to clean a big house and I don't want to wind up on hoarders. (These two comments made me chuckle btw.)

I live small because it's all I need, it's comfortable and cozy, and it keeps the cost of utilities low. But budget isn't the main reason. If I had a decent salary I'd still live small. My dream home is a Tumbleweed Home!

The only thing I would change about my 325 sq foot studio are the closets. When my mother said, "It'd be much nicer if it was a one bedroom apartment," I said I'd rather take real, deep closets over a one bedroom any day. And that's the gospel truth.

Why Do You Live Small?

So you share a bed and wake up disgruntled because thanks to your partner you had an miserable night and barely slept... I'd say sleeping well is an important part of a relationship, not the sleeping arrangement.

My boyfriend's nickname for me is the "bed-raper." I'm the push you off the bed and steal all the sheets kind of girl. He's possibly the loudest snorer I've ever met. A couple nights in the same bed together is the best we can do to enjoy that time without wanting to punch each other in the face.

We've talked about moving in together and we both agreed for sanity's sake we'd each have our own separate bedrooms.

For us, having nights too ourselves is just as important as the ones we spend together. I'd say you're overreacting.

Oh, the Majicker credenza...I own one and it's my favorite piece of furniture. It could use some jazzing up so I'm totally taking this opportunity to get ideas for myself. Sorry OP.

I really like the suggestion to swap the legs for casters.

Yes! Other people who clean before vacations too. I am not alone in my madness.

I'm seconding scrubs. I recently switched to a scrub after months of being lazy and using dishsoap and i actually find that it works a lot better and rinses better too.

How To Clean Your Bathtub

Hmm. I prefered this cure over the 8 week one, but that's because I live alone (no distractions), I live in a tiny studio (not much surface to clean, not much to sort through), and I clean and tidy up regularly (if I had to skip a few days of the cure, no big deal because I wasn't going to have a lot to tackle in 20 minutes).

My only regret is I didn't have any extra money to purchase the art i wanted for my walls. They're so drab and bare.

to be frank i find this "minimalist" trend to be a bunch of bull. to me being choosy about what you put into a 125 sq ft studio isn't "minimal" it's common sense. i live in a 325 sq ft studio and i don't fill it with unnecessary furniture and items, but i wouldn't go around calling making practical decisions my "minimalist lifestyle." ugh.

that aside i adore this studio. i love the idea of white walls, white furniture, with a pop of color. this is similar to what i have in mind for my next apartment. i see white as being bright and airy, and love how it can transform a space and bring so much light in. in a space that small i think you'd need it.

i'm also partial to using a trunk to store bedding and what not because i do the same.

some people are wondering how she can live in a space like that, but i'm wondering how you could live above pike place market (living in a tourist town already there's no way i could live above a major tourist destination) and how much that studio costs...

I skipped this during the last Home Cure... I may have to skip this again. No, I will skip this again. I can turn off my television, put away the Blackberry, but the only way I've been able to fall asleep at a near decent hour is by listening to music.

I save media fasts for vacations. It's the only practical time to disconnect.

As much as I love books, I don't love holding onto them. I only keep my absolute favorites, and reference books.

I did have a issue with magazines... I kept a bunch of them that featured tutorials for projects I thought I'd do. I'd kept them for well over and year without completing, let alone starting, any of them. In the recycling bin they went.

Wow. Who has the money to buy a new mattress that often??? I am in the wrong career field.

Anywho... my number one priority is buying another pot holder. It's hard to pick up hot bowls with one. I don't what I was thinking when I didn't buy pot holders in a pair.

I'm loving the extra characters that have popped up in some of the videos. Cute!

I often weap over the alley entrance to my studio because it's where the trash cans and recycling bins are all lined up. (Not a pretty sight.) The one good thing about it is the recycling bin is right next to my mailbox. All of my junk mail never even makes it into the house.

Uuuh... I don't really care how "green" Mrs. Meyers products are because I am in love with the geranium scented products. I use the dish liquid and counter top spray. I don't like having too many cleaners around, so in addition I use borax (great for kitchen and bath) and white vinegar for my windows.

I'm a huge fan of getting rid of things I don't need. What I liked about the outbox is the idea of designating one area for things I don't want/need anymore. Usually, I would go around my studio and grab things for a goodwill trip and I always wound up forgetting something.

I don't cook much, so a lot of my kitchen cabinets are pretty empty. I stash my outbox items on empty shelves so that I have one area to keep them. Plus, they're out of sight, keeping my tiny studio looking tidy. When I have to go to the goodwill I have to do is open up a cabinet and dump everything into a tote and I'm off!

Day 4: Remove One Item and Set Up Outbox

@Mrs.Mack - I do like the idea of having something living in your home. I've been meaning to buy gourds anyway to liven up my indoor Halloween decorations. That'll be a task for the weekend.

Day 2: Buy Fresh Flowers
The 20/20 Home Cure

10/19/10 10:31 PM

The buying fresh flowers task. Is anyone like me and allergic to anything vibrant, green, and living? During the last cure I just bought an assortment of dried plants and flowers and arranged them in old bottles for my kitchen. I'm thinking of doing something similar for my bathroom. That counts, right?

the chick on the toilet isn't the problem. it's the fact that it appears like she's still wearing bottoms AND has panties around her ankles. i feel a little cheated.

but though this is totally not my style, i am loving how spacious 800 sq ft looks. the pops of color are just right and the bathroom is gorgeous. thumbs up.

i just let my bike chillax in my entry way. i happen to think bicycles are neat enough to look at on their own, so i'd never keep it in a garage or basement. it's a part of my home.

the bike rack for the car is the issue. they're not so decorative, are they? if you have a closet, i'd try stuffing it in there, moving the things that can sit out in a creative storage solution to make room for it.

alright i'm going to admit i like it and would've have given it a thumbs up had i had the chance. i want to kick the stack of books like you ruin a child's sand castle, but other than that i think that sweet bike represents why i like this space- clean and simple, bare bones.

and i'm with perkiplus on this one. perfect for cutting a rug.

I bought that Magicker second hand at a Goodwill some years ago which sparked an argument and a bet between my ex and I. I was convinced it was a dresser. He was adamant it was a credenza. The only reason why I don't like this space is because it means I've lost the bet, and five bucks.

And what is with the "Keep Calm..." hate? It's a simple message that resonates with many people and has a neat way of fitting in their homes. You like what you like. It's appropriate and looks good in that bathroom whether you're tired of seeing it on AT or not.
